Want to build a stroker

Hey guys. I have been saving for a couple of months and I have about 3k. I want to build a stroker motor, and everything else to handle it. I have never built a motor like this, so I am going to need some help. I am going to have to replace some of my surrent mods with stuff to accomodate the new motor. My mods are in my sig, so if you have any suggestions, let me know.

Okay, so I don't want a huge motor, just something that will really kick some ass on the dunes. I was thinking like a 7 mm. What do you think? I haven't looked into pricing or who to even get the parts from, so I am really open to whatever you guys have tried and recommend. I am really serious and want to do it this winter. Please only respond if you are serious and have experience in doing this. I have worked on bikes all my life, so I will be dong most of the work myself, except of course for the porting, boring and such.

Thanks for any and all help/advice.

I also plan on doin a stroker this winter-though ill probly only do a 4mill w/ a 5mil long rod

it would seen to me that most of the mods you already have would work just fine. but...

ya might wanna get a differant set of pipes like cpi, shearers, or something like that to really reap all the power from your stroker.

Maybe even a bigger carb. not sure... ive been lookin on the hq and planet sand for a bit and theres a lot of good advice already out there..

use the search engine and youll get all kinds of good ideas. let us know how its goin.

i just got thru putting a 4mil dune port together and it really kicks ass.

So I dont know about a 7mil. You may need case trenching, not sure.

Some things to look at would be getting bigger carbs, cool head and prolly

some shearer or cpi pipes. Also, id get rid of that degree key in your sig

and pic up a ricky stator adjustable timing plate. And also decide on what

kind of fuel you wanna run.

Thanks for all of your input guys. I have been looking around and I think I might go with a Twister setup. I am not sure if I should have them build the egine for me, or if I will order the stuff and so it myself. What do you guys know about Twister setups? Their customer service and such? What type of clutch should I put in to handle the power? Thanks guys.

Kevin

I think I will try to run 100 octane fuel in this setup. Does that sound okay? What do you reccomend?

I'd buy a 4 mil cub, period. Clean up port, Shearer or CPI Pipes and 35PWKs.

You've saved up 3K...save a little more. Look for used carbs and pipes in good shape to save a few bucks.

You can sell your stock cylinders, 1 into 2 carb setup, stock carbs and PC Pipes and silencers to offset a lot of the cost.

In my opinion, a 7mm motor is a waste. You can build a 10mm for the same price....so why not go bigger?

Get a good clutch setup, Jeff from FAST sells all this stuff, and his clutch setup is killer.

You're also going to want a 4 to 8 over swingarm....new chain, brake line, etc.

Twister makes nice stuff...you're going to pay dearly for it. I personally think for the money a 4 mil cub properly setup is the best bang for your buck out, is very fast....and will run for some time.

I'd say definatly go for the 4 mil cub. A 4 mil crank will drop right in, anything bigger will require cases trenching and like dajogejr said it cost the same to build a 10 as it does a 7 mil, I have also heard many people complain that once they get their 7's going they dont see big enough difference in times or power to have warrented them to switch from a 4 to 7. If you got the cash and dont want a 4, go for the 10 mil.

Def. go with the 4mm cub. Just like the past two people said, a 7 is a waste. A 4mm cub might suprise you how much power they make. On a 3 grand budget a 4mm cub is the way to go, and if you look around enough you can probley get away without spending all of it. Get 4mm cub w/head, 35mm carbs, a clean up port, a set of shearer pipes (cpi's arent bad), and you might want a lockup also, and you should kick some ass on the dunes.
