streetbanshee
from wat y hear u have to go through a couple of heat cycles like let it fully warm up then let it cool down then re-tourqe the head bolts do that a couple of times then ride for like 10 minutes no more than 1/2 throttle then let it cool down completely then again tourqe the head bolts then ride it again for like 15 minutes 1/2 throttle and above but dont ride it at one set throttle positon vary throttle position alot
jlsparky7
Run non-synthetic oil for your first few tanks. Synthetics are too slippery and can cause your pistons rings to get thrown out of whack. I would suggest yamalube, then switch over to whatever you were using before and liked. dajogejr
Do a search...just like exhaust, jetting, oil type, blonde, brunette or red head, opinions will always vary. My way. Heat cycle it twice. retourque. Heat cylce once. Cool down. Beat the hell out of it. After three heat cycles, mine went straight to a dyno.... Some say less throttle, some say mix more gas... I've never done any of those. It's all your choice.....
wood
just got mine back together about 2 months ago, woods port & bored .20, heated it up & let it cool down 3 times, went through 2 tannks of gas at about half throttle, every 20 mintues would let it cool down also kept my mix the same as i always do 40:1.after that nailed it acouple of times checked the plugs and now everthing is all good. csrmel
when i got my new banshee from the yamaha dealer i start it up and idle it to warm it up (as i awalys do). then i did a few warm up runs around the yard (to warm me up not the engine) and then i go at it full throttle. i dont believe in a "break in" anymore. cylinders and pistons/rings of today are so finely machined that by the time you start the motor and allow it to warm up, its already broke in. its not like the bad old days when there was huge clearences and large tolerances. Yamalube is part synthetic. I was told by a reptuable engine builder to break the engine in with whatever oil of your prefrence. And maybe mix a little more in with the fuel. A couple of heat cycles then take the bike out and run it a little thru the gears and vary the throttle letting it slow it self down so you seat the rings on both sides.
