Need help on a setup

Let me know what I should or shouldent do..

I'm getting the CPI Big bore exhaust soon..

I would like to keep the engine stock for now..

One of my buddies told me I should put some drop in filter which only eliminates the top snorkel part? Good or bad idea?

I WILL BE RIDING 98% OF THE TIME IN DIRT ROADS AND TRAILS

What Chain and sprockets should I order for a setup like this?

**I'm not looking to spend a crazy amount of money right now... So please work around that. Also if there is anything you would change to the setup let me know

Thank you

First off, you are getting the wrong pipe period. For two reasons. Big Bore pipes are designed for large motors, big pistons and a 7mm or larger crank.

Second, it's a drag pipe. NOT what you want for trails and track.

Get some Toomey T5 pipes or FMF fatties. DMC and Pro Circuit offer good trail pipes too.

If you don't ride in a lot of water/mud, then remove the air box lid, drop in a K&N Filter and get a pro design pro flow kit. Without the lid on, you'll need the kit to seal the filter to the air box properly....

The pipes listed above are cheaper than big bore CPIs.

Stock steel sprockets are fine, it's the junk factory chain that wrecks them. I like RK and DID X ring chains personally....

Rain is no big deal, deep puddles are. If you plan on making a conscious effort to avoid or take it easy through puddles....you'll be fine.

What do you mean about chain and sprockets? Are yours worn? are you looking to change your gearing? I don't understand what exactly you mean by changing the chain and sprockets...??

Wouldnt changing the sprockets help with performance?

I am going to go with the Toomey T5 pipes.. (whats the cheapest place I can find them?)

What Filter would you recomend and also the Jets. I will be ordering everything by tonight

No puddles/mud go with:

T-5's

clamp on K & N's

340 main jets

27.5 pilot jets

air screw 2 turns out

Toomey needles (dynojet) third clip (middle)

Puddles/mud go with:

T-5s

pro design filter plate for your air box

foam filter

no lid

310 mains

25-27.5 pilots

air screw 1 1/2 turns out

needle setting the same.

15/41 gearing. I ride mostly sand and drags with my buds, some trails.

I currently run the top set up on my 99 but ran the below from about 2000 until this summer. Both work out real well. The gearing mentioned above should be good for you as well.

Check out Magic racing or Rocky mountain atv for the pipes.

Would it make a big difference in performance doing what you mentioned at the top?

I would agree with Toomey Banshee....except for two things.

15/41 gearing in my opinion would suck on trails....Too tall. Stock gearing is fine.

And with airbox, no lid, 280 to 290 on the main.

I think a 15 is too tall for a stock motor banshee with pipes and an air filter. Hell, I run 14/42 on my cub motor which has 2.5 times the power of a piped/jetted shee with an air filter....

But, gearing and chain adjustment is easy....so, take your pick...
