My banshee is firing on 0n 1 cylinder %80 of the time. It is an 04 w/ fmf pipes , dynojet jet kit and weisco .20 pistons and a k&n filter...lid on with no snorkel. I cant figure out the problem. The top end is a fresh rebuild and ran great for the first half hour. Now it sputters and is slower than my blaster and only has slightly over an hour on it if even. I did a comp test and both sides read 135. I cleaned the carbs and swapped the plug wires and no change from side to side in preformance. I put new br8es plugs in and it still only fired on one side. I am runing 32.1 motul with 94 octain. The jets are 280 / 25 and i am at sea level here in south florida. Please help me trouble shoot the problem so I can get back on the road again. Thanks! :shoothead:

If the only mod you have is A k@n with the lid the your jettings fine, check both plugs for spark.Or it could be your CDI?

EDIT..............even with those pipes your jetting is close, are the plugs oil fouling?

Make sure you choke tube is connected, also be sure you didn't put the carb slides in backwards (this can happen is swaped from side to side), pull you reed cages and be sure the reeds are seated and not broken. I would also give the carbs a good cleaning while ya have it all apart and check the float hight .

Good luck.

choke tube is in place, slides are proper, carbs just got a fresh cleaning yesterday and 1 month ago along with the reeds during the rebuild. They looked fine. :baseball_wibble:

After you got your cylinders bored and honed did you make sure your ports were chamfered so your piston rings wouldn`t snag on the ports? If they weren`t it could have bent or cracked your fresh rings. Sometimes a compression test won`t show a bent ring problem. So you will need to do a leakdown test or remove the head and cylinder to check.

The second side does fire, just not nearly as much as the "good" side. If you apply gas sometimes it will kick in and run great, than after a few seconds the left side will bog than run good, than bog,. I almost feel that is has something to do with throttle position. it looks and seems like the carbs are sinced and they open and close at the same time. what wil a leakdown test show me/ Nothing else is abnormal. No fluids are mixing with each other...does not spit and kinds of fluids...does not smoke from anywhere and no signs of leaks. The intake boots are also new and definatly dont have an air leak. :shoothead:

IT will show you what you can't see with your eyes.

It will pressurize the internals of the motor to test for bad gaskets, seals, etc.

Crank seals are the biggest pain, since the cases have to be split. Not hard, just time consuming!!

You may have an electrical problem...but until I knew my motor was sealed, you can spend a ton of money and headaches trying to fix a problem that isn't....

I was gonna say, do the leakdown test, I had a similar problem last year, and it was an air leak, due to the crank seals. Save yourself time, and aggrevation and do the leakdown test. Your jetting seems perfect, it's not that. Also, did you look, at the carbs, and clean them out? Could be dirt or something in the one, and the slide might be sticking closed. Just a though. LEAKDOWN TEST IT THOUGH. dajogejr, I like how you snuck in the new truck in the background of the banshee pic. :headbang:
