CFM
lol next time im going to borrwow the jack hammer from work , and put a industrial grade HUGE bosch jack hammer to it , and see what happens. I had one like that.... They can get real bad. Bought a 92 a couple months back and thought "WTF, if this thing welded to the arm" It took awhile, but I ruined every piece there and tossed all of it... Granted most of the other bolts were frozen too. Scott
DUB
I was wondering if anyone had any tips on removing the swingarm bolt ? I can get it to spin but can't get it out! I tried beating it out with a hammer, no go. lol I thought I was the only one..... Luckly I had mine torn all the way down then I had to take the bolt out. It was weird I could spin it really easy but could not get it to budge! I then blocked the frame up on its side then sprayed some PB BLASTER (penetrating oil) around the threads and spun the bolt then waited 10 min and did that again for about 1 hour. Then took a peice of hard nylon and placed it on the bolt then hit it about 6 times as hard as I could. It came out pretty easy after that. fast500#12
you guys are romoving the shock first right? mine didn't wanna come out until i took the shock off. i left the shock on first so the swing arm wouldn't just fall on the ground when the bolt came out. the wife dosen't ever wanna give me a hand with any thing in the garage. BigRed350x
spray some penetrating oil in there and let it sit over night then try the hammer idea again. Try an air hammer. I've never had any of mine get stuck, but I've seen some pretty bad ones.
phx450
Tried to get it out again last night. Almost used an entire can of WD40! 1st used a wood block to hit it. Nothing. 2nd used a standard hammer. Nothing. 3rd used my trailer hitch. Nothing. The bolt spins very easy, i even tried different angles with the swingarm up high, down low, etc. Everything is off of the bike, just the swingarm left to go. Powdercoating is waiting. Tonight Round 3 i might end up borrowing a sledgehammer!
dajogejr
I'd get an air hammer with a pointed end...that'll get it out...
NYUK
just cut it with a 4 inch cutting wheel on a grinder. i have parted out hundreds of bikes and every once in a while one is siezed iron tight. a sledgehammer won`t budge it. i just cut it out. a grease zerk on your new one will solve this.the new pivot bolt are on e bay 15 to 20 bucks. Dinner
man either i have superhuman pwoers or you guys are tards lol iv taken mine off a few time and when it binds up you just got to move the swinger up down and side to side... im able to tap mine out with a normal hammer and a big screw driver...i win First time i used channel locks and just tugged on the end of the bolt. Next time i took it apart i used my hand, while wiggling the swing arm. So yes it is pretty easy, we both win  Then again when i put it back together the first time, i coated that thing with like 500 Lbs of grease  Edited September 13, 2006 by Dinner
