aczar
I also have tried the plastic type tubing they sell at lowes, home depot etc. And once it heats up the hose gets soft and starts to sag, and mine just blew the whole hose out where it had started to bend and I had to get towed home by a Suzuki :: . If you look at the tag or packageing on this stuff(clear and braided) it says its only good for like 110F and like 5psi. And the Shee radiator cap dosent release pressure unitl 13.8-18.1 psi. I checke at some local industrial suppy stores and you can purchase a clear high temp hose like you see in all the kits but I could only find it in 1000 foot rolls and a 5 bucks a foot its not worth it. racer
that temp rating means it has to hold the pressure rating at that temp. so, heat isnt really a factor here since the temp isnt high enough to melt it, and the pressure isnt high enough to burst it. EDIT: i just saw your post, and i remember some triple digit pressures on the hose i used. maybe you shouldnt be using the plastic, but instead the PVC. EDIT 2.0 the pressure rating on .750" ID PVC braided hose is 150psi. Edited October 13, 2006 by gimmeabeer
GEEZR
Just got back from my 1st ride with the clear braided PVC hose. No problems (yet). They do tend to get soft and very plyable. I will keep my eye on them tho. I still have the original hoses in my truck just for back up. These clear things look Ssswweeet !!!

EastCoast Banshee
You can use 3/4 it works fine. Just put it on about 30min ago. Seems to be fine to me gets alittle soft after you get it really hot but nothing i would worry about.

Satsol67
I have been thinking about this for sometime now. Its good to see others are trying it. I went to lowes the other day for a T fitting so i could install my temp sender for the gauge and all most bought the clear hose. Its crazy as hell to spend 99 bucks on the ones that ebay lists or rmatv. When my stock hose for the water pump broke I just used 3/4 heater hose from autozone but I would really like to change to the clear hose with some red die color. IROOST1
That clear would look sweet and for that price, you can change it every couple rides. I personally run goodyear 3/4 inch heater hose from autozone. .99 /ft
