black sunshine Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 Are there any good/bad things to say about engine ice? I just see it advertised alot and wanted to know if was worth it. Quote
ranshee Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 Mos def. No overheating probs here. Even dropped my temp a bit Quote
FadedDreams Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 Engine Ice is probably the best stuff i've used for the banshee.I don't know if it actually cools as much as they claim on the jug,but its helps enough that you won't be overheating anytime soon.At least it helped mine out alot. sheefreak Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 I agree, good stuff. Down side is it is $17 a bottle. Quote
Bansh-eman Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 I agree, good stuff. Down side is it is $17 a bottle. 17 bucks a bottle is better then a overheated motor that locks up and cost a grand or more to fix and yes its good shit... i use redline water wetter and distilled water works good but the ice is ready to be used so thats a plus. Animalman294 Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 Engine Ice works great.............. Quote

Nothing cools better than redline water wetter and water. Only disadvantge is no freeze protection. Quote
crazybluerider Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 I use the redline water wetter and distilled water too it works awesome. Quote
dawarriorman Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 Both Engine Ice and Water Wetter work by the same principle. When the coolant encounters a hotspot and boils, it forms bubbles. While there are bubbles on the metal, there is no coolant touching it and cooling it off. The surfactants that make up Engine Ice and Water Wetter keep those bubbles from attaining any size, and make sure they don't stick to the metal. Either one will do the same thing, although Engine Ice is more expensive. And since it drops the freezing temperature (containts antifreeze), it more than likely won't cool as well as straight Water Wetter and water. Myself I use 1/4 toyota red antifreeze with 3/4 water, and water wetter. Don't really need too much freeze protection here, rarely gets lower than the teens here in the winter. Quote
ThE_BaNsHeE_mAn88 Posted September 8, 2006 Report Posted September 8, 2006 engine ice works grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat!!!!!!!! Quote
streetbanshee Posted September 12, 2006 Report Posted September 12, 2006 yea i noticed a temperature drop on my shee wit the engine ice good stuff Quote
Justintoxicated Posted September 19, 2006 Report Posted September 19, 2006 (edited) Nothing cools better than redline water wetter and water. Only disadvantge is no freeze protection. That and it is known to be corrosive to plastic/acrylic over time and does not do a very good job of anti corrosion by itself either. But yea that mixed with straight distilled water will provide excelent cooling results but will not protet your motor as well from other issues. I used to runt he water wetter (super toxic) but have since switched to engine ice. I prefer the engine ice, since it is non toxic and blue . The only disadvantage I have sceen is that it tends to get little floaties in it over time, but this is probably not much of an issue on the banshee since there is little that should plug up. helldriver Posted September 19, 2006 Report Posted September 19, 2006 I rim engine ice in my shee AND in my XC racing YFZ,, and it works great in both bikes, I have noticed it keeps the shee a bit cooler, espically when climbing the sand wall in our local sand pits,, and in my yFZ,, it keeps the bike cooler when running the races Quote
kb7kuh Posted September 19, 2006 Report Posted September 19, 2006 Works great and no overheating after putting it in. Quote
