chase@miamiatv.com
Help a newb out. Took off the stator cover today, and realized it is full advanced timing jammed past the +15 mark ( im almost preety sure i wasnt hallucinating ) ........ Just curious how this corrolates a drag port or better said , what are the advantages of a full adv.
okbeast
Also curious on this...I've heard/read alot of different views, including one that stated increasing the timing helped out the low-end?
BigRed350x
I don't know that I would run it up that high. It will increase bottom end, but you will lose some up top. Not sure on what it would do that high up. I would pull your domes and check to see if you're getting any kinda detonation. Check for little marks on the domes. Almost looks like you have little rocks flying around inside the cylinder when you have detonation. What octane gas are you using? What size domes and what compression? chase@miamiatv.com
im running c12 compression around 200 estimated. 18cc domes... im not going to pull the cool head off , bike runs amazingly rediculous , pulls so hard . I had the motor built by someone who has built some of the faster banshee's i have ever seen and or ridden...

bigboybanshee
To me, it looks like it's set at +10, I always thought the timing plate was "lined up" with the crack between the case halves, at least that's how mine is... 200 lbs of compression with 18cc domes sounds like there isn't much porting done...I'm running 18cc domes and my compression was just over 170. I might be wrong though, hopefully someone with more experience will correct me if I am  Oh yeah, that stator cover is badass
chase@miamiatv.com
those are guesses on compression , my tester broke in the move . This bike is ported out big time , its got tripple exhuasts and some other goodies. Anyhow i guess i did read the timing wrong , i thought you read it by the actual like peg like thing thats all the way past +10. I had some sandles on , and from kicking the bike the kick starter went thru the bottom of my sandle and smashed my foot. And these were some nice sandles too with thick rubber soles. Im going to order a new compression tester now , any reccomendations ( fleabay ) Edit : the bigger stroker i was told increases the compression , so the charts are not really accurate. Some b.s i could be wrong , i will order a tester
trex banshee
if i were you i would just go to your local parts store for the tester. I got mine at Orielly's and it cam with two other adapters and it works great and i have never had anyproblem after almost a year. It goes all the way to 300psi. and i agree with bigboybanshee on the compression sounds high for that size of dome.

trex banshee
well were gunna find out i just orderd one http://cgi.ebay.com/AUTO-ATV-CAR-ENGINE-CO...1QQcmdZViewItem yeah that should work except the guy who tought me how to port had one that looked identical to that and it said is rz350 only had 90psi so he was gonna tear it apart for rings but mine, and another tester read it had 140, but i don't know the exact brand of his and how old it was. I wish i had a cool hardcase to put mine like that though.
bigboybanshee
I just picked up an automotive compression tester from auto zone and it's done me right for the past few years. I've never had a stroker before so I don't know if it raises compression or not. Remember to hold the throttle open while you're kicking

chase@miamiatv.com
well thankyou everyone for your replies. I do understand more about the timing and what it helps for, and how to properly read it. Big boy when you going to stroke her =-D .... thanks guys if this compression tester says i got 40 psi , im going to chuck the compression tester at the mail man. I have a motor thats at 140psi forsure , and i can kick start it barefoot no problem. My bike kick starting it barefoot is asking for a ambulance. - Chase
bigboybanshee
Big boy when you going to stroke her =-D .... It's sitting in the garage, will be on next year!!! Should be done before the PS drags, I'd like to attend/race even though I know I'll get spanked, LOL! I have way too many cheeseburgers under my belt compared to the featherweight jockeys they tend to run
