Turbobanshee_kid
Ok i have been thicking of posting this for along time so finally i have. What are some problems that the Yamaha Banshee's have if they are stock? and what parts should you buy to fix the problems? Like: The T.O.R.S System = T.O.R.S Eliminator kit The Parking brake = The Parking brake block off The A-arm's= Get ones that have replaceable ball joints What are some other common problems? Hopefully this will help alot of banshee owners!

dajogejr
There are plenty of fast bikes, drag and dune, that I've seen running the stock head. Just cause it's not pretty, doesn't mean it doesn't work... Hell...if you get 'em cut for O Rings...they're pretty damn good. I know....you can change domes in an aftermarket head...but, once you put domes in, how many people actually swap domes?? Stock Pipes are junk, choke the motor and are HEAVY... Stock Air Filter is junk, as is the lid to retain it...get a pro-flow adapter. Stock shocks, junk Stock rear tires, junk
Turbobanshee_kid
Crank= Get it welded Plastic Impeller=Billet Impeller If i just got a Brand plastic one, Its not going to give me any problems any time soon right? A guy at trinity racing told me that running engine ice coolant in the stock water pump system can damage it or somthing in the system. Is this true has engine ice ever caused any one on here any problems. He said it happend in a big bore kit 686 or 726 Raptor. and it over heated the bike and missed up the cylinder. dajogejr
Trinity... :yankyank: I ran it all last year on my STOCK motor, stock water pump, stock cooling system and didn't have a LICK of problems. Better yet, it sat all winter, and after putting fresh gas and plugs in it...fired right up in March ....before I tore the motor out to build my cub. BS....period. Engine Ice works, period.... Bansh-eman
Trinity... :yankyank: word the engine ice isnt what will jack your motor its the cheap palstic impeller they tend to break pretty commonly , mine didnt break but many other have in the past. i also wonder why the impeller gear is plastic. you would think they would have made it aluminum, i dont hear of many people having to replace it unless they get something in a bind and shear the teeth off but its not really all that common. I was at Silver Lake with my friend last weekend and we went flying over some rough spots, almost like moguls and I damn near bit it 2 times in about 20 seconds. My friend was just crusing through them pulling away with his LT450R. =\
csrmel
some of these things are very subjective. whats wrong with the parking brake? i use mine whenever i put my banshee on the trailer or in the back of the truck. (in addition to straps). i somtimes also use it when parking on a hill. how can a parking brake be a known problem? its just a cable and a cam on the caliper! whats wrong with tors? ive seen more than a few posts on this website about people with tors removed and whos throttles have stuck open and they crashed into things like trees. had these people left the tors connected, they probably wouldnt have crashed because the tors would have cought the problem and limited the rpm. if you keep the tors in proper working order it can save youre ass, as well as youre motor if 1 slide sticks partly open and you dont realise it, you can run lean and blow a motor. tors is a life saver for twin cylinder machines. but yet everyone seems to think its junk. my banshee has tors and i have no plans to ever remove it. if it ever acts up, all i need to do is disconnect the single connector running to the black box under the tank and the problem is avoided and i can continue to ride at my leisure. then i can fix whatever part of tors broke whenever i can find time. to top it off i can do jet changes without disconnecting the tors. it doesnt even get in the way of jetting changes or carb work. the stock swingarm adjustment system, its not THAT bad if you keep it in good working order. the key here is proper maintence. i keep my swing arm bolts and nuts lubed with antiseize. makes adjustments a snap. actually i have a feeling that alot of people dont maintain quads very well. im not going to call anyone here out but there is alot more to maintence than plugs jets and oil changes. No offense, but I have to disagree with you, csrmel. First of all...99.9% of the time the parking brake has never worked, even when adjusted. Even with constant maintenance. Second, the stock carrier chain adjustment is that bad. It is a piece of crap. I am another bansheeaholic that has gone the way of the honda style carrier. They really are the shiz. Third, the TORS can be an electrical nightmare. Not to mention they are in the way of doing carb work. I have never had any problems with the above items and have kept up good maintenance on my 'shee and I still think the items are crap. IMO, the stock air filter is the biggest piece of crap on the banshee. And the frame materials and fasteners seem to be made out of recycled soup cans or some kind of cheap ass metal.
