bansheefourseven
That my water pump not working and my quad over heating caused it to lose compression?? My quad overheated today after maybe a 10 minute ride through the woods and then down a road in 4th and 5th gear. I got back to the house and it was puking coolant on my pipe out of the overflow tube. I tested my compression a while back and it was low I was going to redo the top end soon. now Im wondering if the water pump not working caused my compression to drop because of overheating when I first got the quad It overheated on me a time or two but it was 98+ degrees out when it happened. Its 71 here now theres no way thats to hot to ride for 10 min I started it without the radiator cap off a few weeks ago and let it warm up but due to the vibrations at higher than idle rpm I couldnt tell if it was flowing or not . What should I do, drain the radiator and rip the water pump cover off and see if the impellar is spinning when I kick it over? Ive ridd
LiftdT4R
I don't know about the compression, but I'd drain it, and pull the water pump cover. This happened to my buddy's bike, and a few people on here. If you have the stock plastic impeller, I'd bet money that it's stripped and shot. You will know once you pull it, that's the frst place I'd check. DOn't buy another plastic one, get a billet one. Good luck!

Ive ridd this sounds a bit familiar to me........do you have a cool head?? if so it is very possible you maybe lost a o-ring. when this happens exhaust will pressurize the cooling system and spit out your overflow. also causing your compression to drop. How do I know? cause it happened to me twice. Yeah that was a bummer!
