rriggs Posted August 24, 2006 Report Share Posted August 24, 2006 hey guys and gals, just a few more weeks left of silver lake sand dunes for the year until it closes the doors for the winter months...looking to get some people together for a weekend of riding and camping over there...i usually stay at silver lake resort and campground right outside of town, 2 miles from the dunes..this weekend the weather is gonna be crappy, but im sure the next couple of weeks may be nice enough..let me know if anyone is interested.. sam97 Posted August 29, 2006 Report Share Posted August 29, 2006 It looks like I am going Labor Day with just one of my friends. I will be on the YFZ in my sig, he is on a blue 700r. I've never been on a busy weekend before, so what time do I need to line up on Friday to get a voucher for Saturday? (and saturday for sunday?) I live in Detroit, and am trying to figure out when I need to leave friday night. Also, what are the hotel rates like? I am debating on whether to camp or hotel. I was out there last year...late September or Early October...the riding weather was better (cooler) but the nights were darned chilly... We might be planning on two October trips...so..let's get it figured out. Hope all of you have a great time, be safe...lots of idiots out there with no common sense...roost a 4 stroke or two for me... Sam...if you haven't gotten a hotel by now...you'd better start calling. I'm 100% certain if you just drive up there Friday night you'll be sleeping in your car. They take reservations in advance for Labor Day, Memorial Day and 4th of July weekends up there.... rriggs Posted August 29, 2006 Author Report Share Posted August 29, 2006 hey sam, if you need vouchers for the parking lot, they start giving them out friday night at 9pm-11pm...get in line at 8 pm to make sure you get a voucher...most hotels are booked..i stay at a camp site just up the road from the dunes..they usually have room, and it is a damn nice camp ground. It's not like a holiday weekend or opening weekend...but, it's pretty darned fun. Too many dipshits on holiday weekends for my taste.
