csrmel
because t5's stick out like a sore thumb, they seem to awalys burn me and others. even when i take a kid on a low speed ride i usualy hear an "ouch" once or twice each time. when adults ride my banshee they also suffer the wrath of the toomeys. i have perminant scarring on my legs from the toomeys. and the pipes are discoloured where so many people have left pieces of skin on the pipe and it remains there forever. i found a rpoduct called moose pipe armour. heres a link http://www.mooseracing.com/catalog.jsp?lin...%20Hard%20Parts im thinking that although this pipe armour is designed to protect a pipe from rocks, it may be beneficial on a banshee by buying 2 of them and placing it up on the side of the pipe where one normally gets burned. what say you people? should i plop down the $35 per side and try it out? Dinner
I would think that if it is wrapped that tightly around the pipe that it would get hot as well and still burn your legs, but i could be wrong
jbooker82
If your going to put something on the pipe to keep people from buring them selves you should look at DEI Exhaust wrap. It comes in various length roles. It would work the best for heat protection.
dajogejr
Toomey's stick out? Are you kidding???? They're tame compared to other pipes out there. Here's an idea...since it's leaving "skin" on the pipes...try long pants...jeans, etc. Keep the kid rides on the 4X4 ute quads, or let them ride on back... The only issue I EVER had on mine was a rain suit, last year....and the legs were bulky and flappy...and they melted onto the pipes. I've never burnt my legs on Toomey's.... I think the company is called DeVol that makes nice pipe wraps... I know they do for bikes...I'm sure they can be used for quads as well. Looks like more of a protector than a heat shield.... https://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/item....=662&division=

Bansh88
I found a product called pants and riding boots that work quite well hahahahahahahahaa! No shit! This topic reminds me of Homer Simpson grabbing a hot pan. Over and over and over again. I just looked at those ugly things. They will get just as hot as the pipes. Thye arent for heat protection. They're for dent protection
platinumjason
Toomeys are probably the best aftermarket pipes performance wise that dont stick way out. I got CPI Inframes and those are real close on me but I ALWAYS wear jeans when I ride with them on so it dont burn me. I notice the heat sometimes but I just move my leg away and problem solved. csrmel
you try wearing pants when its 105 degrees in the SHADE. it gets so hot out in the florida sun that if i had to wear pants and boots and all that shit i would just quit riding. i dont mind wearing pants but honestly i like riding naked so i need to find something to keep the pipes from burning me. I do it all the time. Actually, 5 days a week, I cook in a restraunt. its 120 degrees standing in front of the grill. And I stand there hours at a time wearing pants the whole time. Ive also done lanscaping, all day long, in the heat, wearing pants. Sure its not as comfortable as shorts, but you can do it, trust me. Discomfort and pain is all in your mind. It only bothers you if you let it. To the original poster, my boots will keep me from burning myself on my T5s even without pants. So either buy yourself some boots, or start wearing pants. trex banshee
if you really wanna get a burn, ride a shee with rockets!
BigRed350x
I only burned my leg once or twice when I was wearing shorts. After that I learned where to and where not to put my legs. If you burn yourself on your pipes like every time you ride, maybe you should consider stock pipes. HA Ha!
bansheerage
if you really wanna get a burn, ride a shee with rockets! hell yeah them bitches fucking burn and stick out to where your constantly looking where your knees are
dajogejr
if you really wanna get a burn, ride a shee with rockets! Ain't that the truth... Between a picture of chase's leg...and csr riding naked, I'm afraid this thread has definately taken a turn for the worse.... :yelrotflmao: :yelrotflmao: Seriously.... There's times when I won't ride cause it's too hot out, but if I did...I sure wouldn't be bitching about burning my legs because I just had to wear shorts to be comfortable... Do yourself a favor, don't ever buy inframe drag pipes, CPI, Shearer or Rockets.... If you're burning your legs on T5's, you'd probably find a way to burn your nutsack on those....
