trickedcarbine
ill be the first to admit that im no expert on on this stuff but it seems to me that a boost bottle supposedly works off the helmholtz resonator principle. in theory a boost botttle should work. it is a very real way to boost volumetric efficency, you see it on special automotive intake manifold setups. the problem is in reality i have never seen one built for a banshee thats big enough to actually do anything. im just guessing here based off my extremly limited knowledge however i think it would need to be the size of a couple 2 litre bottles to properly work on the extremly short intake tract of a banshee. and the openings which connect it to the intake would need to be atleast 50% as large as the intake its self. the stock cross over tube ports are just too small to do anything. those little junk bottles the crappy companys sell wouldnt do anything for a banshee. the way i view it is if a company sells junky things like boost bottles, i view that company as a company that will take youre cash and not give you anything meaningfull in return, yet lie and try to make you think youre faster or whatever. i tend to stay away from those type of places because they are easy places to waste alot of cash on things that dont really do any good. In theory you are right! I have had my upp manifolds with the boost bottle in my sig on the dyno and the torque curve actually started about 4/500 rpm earlier and I picked up 2 ft. lbs. after pulling the boost bottle. Daj, I know you arent much for the dyno shit, but in that scenario it proved the boost bottle to be bunk junk or a gimmick if you will. Duncan's intake is not junk, but there is some level of gimmick. ALL of their products are decade old designs and they were good at that time. However the advancement of banshee engine development has progressed else where while duncan has moved on to other things. It's like telling me the old 6.5 diesel is better then the new Duramax. They have GOOD stuff but current banshee specific builders have INSANE stuff. I will give credit where it is due though and make it known that Duncan has dominated at Pikes Peak with their program on a banshee, however there were a lot of other heads involved in that. DRI, sorry man. I'm not sure you will have any one on board with you. I have held their national cylinders in my hand and looked at them with my eyes. They were done by Loren, and they don't compare to my passion cylinders! Or fast cylinders. Or the stuff I have seen from tony doukas. There are guys still just putting R&D in to what is said to be a dieing breed and proving that there is still more to be had, while others like Duncan, CT, LRD, etc. have all moved on to the four stroke movement. trickedcarbine
Haha big red! I totally didn't even catch that shit! I just read through it and at the end saw recent posts and threw in my two cents. Not to mention it seemed legit now that Daj is back to the forums and the whole first few pages is a back and forth like the sniper thread Damn you turbowrenchhead! Haha
Paulie B
From what I've read and understood about the helmholtz resonator principle IS yes it does work. BUT It has to be forulated to your exact, porting, compression, dome design, carb, bore, stroke and pipe. I'm not sure timing matters though. With that said, when you change any of those variables you might as well chuck your boost bottle and start a new one.
