Dinner
I am thinking about getting my cylinders ported this winter. Probably an all around port or mid-high port. Do i HAVE to get the crank trued and welded, or is it just a good idea. And how much does it usually cost? Thanks Dinner
Bansh-eman
no you dont HAVE to but its a very good idea if its not done... cranks are notoriouse for splitting.
Ultimateduner
I agree its not necessary but if you have your banshee apart you might as well if you have the money. (under $100 I think)

dajogejr
I'd rather trust mine to a builder and pay a few bucks more. Sure...anyone can weld, but doing it right from a builder is really the better way. I'd say you should be able to have that done for under 100 including shipping.... trex banshee
Yes I would get it done if I were you, I have split two recently that were coming apart. And the local shop that does all of mine is 55 dollars. Edited August 20, 2006 by trex banshee
Ducman
It would cost a bit more but I would ship the whole motor to a builder, have the case port matched and the crank trued/welded while you were at it and let them tear down and rebuild the motor. Or if your on a tight budget, you could not get the crank trued and just take the cylinders off to get them ported and leave the motor in the frame. It would be a good idea to get the crank trued and welded through.
Dinner
I think all im going to do is get porting done and the crank trued and welded. Don't feel like sending the whole motor out :baseball_sweat: All i got to do is find someone around my place what does true and weld cranks. CadillacBanshee
I would say yes, you have to have idt trued and welded. My crank split and i had to buy a new one that was already trued and welded. It was EXPENSIVE!!!!
