fuel questions

Recommended Posts

ok thanx to everyone that helped me get it jetted right. it runs so much better. ok next item on the agenda is what kind of fuel and ratio? i was thinkoing about running VP C-12 100% or a 50/50 mix of that with premium. will i have any advantages or disadvanteges? i want to run motul oil in it as well. what kind of ratio? im looking or engine life but not as much as i want the power. im running a 42:1 mix right now. mods include:

Kand N with prefilter in the stock airbox with lid removed

fmf gnarly headers with power core 2 silencers

carbs jetted with a dynojet kit using 340 mains, clip on #2 groove stock pilots and 2 turns out on air screw

also all i ever hear about are toomey and other brand pipes. did i screw up by buying the full fmf system or are they a good pipe or what? :headbang:

with your mods running race gas will hurt you more then helping... you simply do not have the compression to run it. you will be able to get off running 91-97 oct with no problems. also there is no need to buy motul.... your spending extra money for a name... just run Yamalube R2 if you ask around lots of peeps run it including myself , its a very good and inexpensive oil. youd be suprised how many shee owners run it.

Ditto...I agree...but, I've always run Maxima Super M in all my two strokes...personal preference...

It's easier to measure out 40:1 or 32:1 too...instead of 42:1....

When you start getting more compression and adding timing, then think about race gas...don't waste your money till then.

Yep...

get a new mechanic. If you have stock compression and stock timing, you have absolutely NO need for race gas, mixed, straight, whatever....

Your main is way too rich for still having your airbox with the lid removed.

You should be in the 280ish range.

Stock pilots will be fine.

Put your needle back on the middle clip...or, if you have the dynojet needles (longer and skinnier than stock) put it on the fourth clip down from the blunt end....

Put the air screws at 1.5 turns out. 280 mains and needle as mentioned above...

It will run better.

Try a good 2 stroke oil at 32:1 or 40:1...you'll be in a better starting point.

You don't need to go 330s or 340's until you remove the airbox completely....and that's if you're at or around sea level....
