TSinclair
I am installing new K& N pod filters today. I have saw on here before approximate jetting over the no lid jet setting. I am at 300 mains now with no lid, Which main will be a decent start and air screw setting. 330? or 340? Thanks for the info Tim
dajogejr
If you bike is jetted correctly the way it is now, just removing the air box and putting clamp ons will be roughly 340s...you should be safe. You may have to bump your pilot jet one size if it's stock (25)...some pipes like a fatter pilot, some don't. With stock pilots and pods, try the air screw out at 1.0 turn and see how that works. I will start with the 340's and get another set of pilots. I am running T5 pipes, + 4 timing. I guess the next pilot size are 27.5 above stock. I will try what you suggest first and then see how it runs with the bigger pilots. Thanks for the help.
dajogejr
To be honest...and this is just me, I normally leave bigger pilots in and turn out the air screws further...why? Simple. Cause I'm too lazy to pull the choke...to start it cold. And, I don't spend any time (5%) below 1/8 throttle...so, if it's just a little rich, so be it. I just open the throttle a hair when it's warm to start it...and it works just fine. That being said.... If you plan on riding some tighter trails, you'll want to clean up your pilot and air screws. With my T5s I ran both, stock and one bigger pilot (27.5's)...no big deal.
Toomey Banshee
On my 99 I run T-5's with pods, 340 mains, 27.5 pilots, dynojet needle clip in the middle, airscrew 1 1/2 turns out. Runs strong all the way through the gears and will idle all day.
