race-a-holic
My friend Michael has a banshee with a F.A.S.T. play/dune port,CPI inframes,Trinity head, stock stroke, and stock carbs. He smokes piped 450's.He's even outrunning 450's with big bores, porting, different cams,etc... Porting a banshee makes a huge difference. Wheel_Works
I haven't had a Banshee in almost 10 years. I got the bug for one and went and found a perfect stock 96'. Brought it home and tore it down. Ordered a set of T6's with jet and air filter kit. Called my old buddy Dan Hull and asked about some more mods. He sent me a Timing plate and V-force reeds. He said set the timing at 5'. Motor cranks 120 psi I took this bike over to Silver Lake a Couple weeks ago and were beating built 350 bikes and most 4 strokes. We weren't killing them by any means at all, but we were beating them. This bike will be a 10 mill cub by spring on Meth. olmick
well it looks like i will have some pro circuit pipes, clamp on k&n's, a timing key, and i will try a 15t sprocket the next time i race
Shee-Male
You deffinatley doing something wrong, 450's are not hard to beat with a piped Banshee!, are you using the throttle?...it's on the right.
chase@miamiatv.com
my mx port : two into 1 carb : lol drag pipes : 130 psi engine + 4 timing. usedto WAAAAAAAAAAAAAALK on 450'z and craptors. The motor was tuned shitty as hell too. Have not raced a 4 stroke yet with my 10 mill but im not sure i want to waste my time and gas . J-Madd
My '99 Banshee smokes my YFZ on dirt or pavement. YFZ had LRD exhaust, cammod, crower gen 3 intake cam, stock gearing, dyna fs ignition. I now have a Ron Wood exhaust. The LRD can was busted a the mounts. The Banshee has whats listed in my sig and shaved head 0.020'' (about 150 psi now). We also polished the exhaust port last rebuild, nothing major, no porting. It got stock gearing now, but it pulls a 15t pretty easily. Edited August 30, 2006 by J-Madd
phx450
This is a pretty fun thread! what about gearing? what about tires? what about rider skill? what about jetting (banshee)? You will always have what about this vs. that. I have both, so i dont really care either way, but my 4 stroke is getting fast!
cexualcensations
You should have no problem beating the raptor if you lauch correctly. I once had a raptor 660 with a full yosh pipe and k&N filter and a bone stock banshee. The banshee would win every time when we drag raced even by switching riders the banshee would win. One thing about the banshee which is a slight disavantage is the long swingarm which never gets traction on hardly any surface. I bough a lonestar -2 swinger and love it. Have no problem with traction now.
rocketboy
i cant belive your losing ,a good running she on pavement can accelrate pretty quick .id get some toomey T5 pipes and a K&N air filter (no lid on)setup .if yo u stil l lose to these 4 chokes, then you need a rebuild or fix your jetting or something .theres a problem IMO
greencoloredride
My bike pulled on craptors when it was stock and now it pulls hard on piped and filtered craptors with just the mods I have. I love the T6s on the stock motor but like everyone says, Ill be going to T5s come rebuild time.
gottago2stroke
I really can't see why everybody is so loyal to toomey. Compare greencoloredride's toomey t-6's (in his sig above) to my Dynoport big volumes (more like an inframe drag pipe than anything) Maybe I'm stupid, but I always thought the straighter it goes, the higher it flows? ::
DreamShee03
Your going to need alot of porting and tuning to keep up with some of us slow pokes! Dude BasicBajaX i think i saw you down at Wynoka dunes with that beast of a DS. I only saw you drag once or twice but man that thing was fast as fast gets. I wish i would have known it was you and i would have went and said hi. -darin Edited September 9, 2006 by DreamShee03
yyz
with stock porting i assume... t5's w/toomey needles, k&n clamp ons, +3 degree timing plate, mill the head .030, 13-41 gearing, jet accordingly... you'll be suprised... yyz

I wish I was leaving today to go this year. Last year was the first time out with the big bore on it and I was still having some troubles. Its gotten better though
