400ccStroker_shee
mods are fattys/ boysen reeds/boost bottle/k@n in box with lid/carbs are jetted 280 main 25 pilot elevation 800-1000ft.The needle is at the leanest setting and the pilot screw is 2 1/4 turns out.the plugs are still black but it seems to run fine. What do you guys think, thanks first you should take your air box lid off, you will see a big difference. if your plugs are black its still too rich, by just taking the air box lid off it can correct the black plugs, by allowing more air. take the lid off , get new plugs then do a plug chop, beware when you take the air box lid off it might make it lean. just check your plugs should be light brown. if your bike goes lean after you take the lid off the air box, try a 320 main, 27.5 pilot. Justintoxicated
removing the airbox lid will require you to mount the adapter plate for the filter. I modified my stock plastic piece by removing the supports (chopping them off) leaving just the back plate. I drilled 2 holes in the airbox and mounting plate. I then siliconed the back plate to the box to create a seal, and secured it with zipties. Cutting off the supports sort of copies the pro flow billet adapter design, and allows you to install and remove the filter without having to remove teh mounting plate. dajogejr
Your jetting is close. What kind of oil are you running, and at what mixture? When is the last time you did a compression check?
Bill
Im runnin klotts super technaplate at 40to1 and I did A comp. test about two weeks ago and it was 120psi.I should do another today.thanks
dajogejr
You should be fine. I'd put the needle back to the stock setting (middle). Have you done a proper plug chop yet? get new plugs. Warm the bike up good on old ones. Change 'em. Go for a WOT run at least through 5th gear and pull the clutch in, kill the ignition. Here's more on that: http://www.dfn.com/benkaren/plugchop.html
Bill
hey man I just went out to do the comp. test and I found A large crack in the intake boot.gotta love them fucken boost bottles! Is there any way to fix it or do I haft to get new ones.thanks
dajogejr
I because you're gonna constantly have gas/oil and air flowing over them...replace them. If you were in a pinch, you might be able to use some silicone or epoxy...but, do you really want to chance sucking that stuff into your motor...? Not a wise idea... I think I may have stock intakes sitting at my house, but...the rubber V's are cut smooth for VForce Reeds. If I have 'em, and you want 'em...they're yours. Pay for the ride...they do me no good at all. No crossover tube...sorry, using it now. Thank you...Thank you...yet another story as to why Boost bottles are a waste and are more trouble than the 20 bucks you spend on 'em. I kinda suspected an air leak, since you went so radical on your jetting with no avail... If you want, Bill, I'll check when I get home for the stock intakes... Just gotta plot through the garage.... dajogejr
Here they are...fresh outta the sink. You can see where the stock rubber V was cut of for VForce reed cage clearance. I even have allen bolt tightening screws instead of those POS phillips screws. You'll need new gaskets, and it's a smart idea to use a thin coat of hi temp RTV to seal these. I will PM you with my papal address...is that cool?
