Mod Banshee
What are you running in 300ft? I am seeing high 5s to low 6s the track I was on I could not hook up at all.
trex banshee
yeh that is kinda slow for your mods. What kinda track was it, dirt, sand, asphalt. This makes a huge difference also the track you were running on do cars run on it as well, if so the take off will be too deep for quads. what kinda tires are you running. Mine last year on gas and stock stroke went 5.5 and my brothers is bone stock except for 4 degrees of timing 17cc domes and rockets went 5.7 a couple weeks ago. bigboybanshee
The first time I went out on mine I ran a 5.0, and followed it with 5.1, 5.2. I've done a lot of fine tuning since then so I'm expecting mid to upper 4's for me now. I'm going back to the the 300' dirt track this weekend so I'll let you know what the latest is  Oh yeah, I also weigh almost 300 lbs :baseball_bat:
Mod Banshee
The track is like Fine crushed stone and under that it is like concrete. I am runing razr 2 tires with every other row cut out. With my Mods what size carbs should I be running? Now I have 28mm carbs.
bigboybanshee
For dragging and your mods, I would go with 34's or 35's. That surface will be a bitch to hook up on, I see why you're having trouble with traction :baseball_bat:
Mod Banshee
Ok Thanks I am looking a a set of 34mm Carbs. last Sunday there was drags on that track and I was talking to some of the Open Mod that had studs in there tires and they even said they were haveing problems hooking up. trex banshee
will the track allow you to run paddles, or will it tear them up too much? Also how is the timing at your track does it record your 60ft time and et time and mph?
wesw
my suggestion find a new track there is no way your ever going to hook up on loose rocks or gravel. find a pasture work the ground up, make it dirt if you want put some sand into it to make it hook up better. i mean you could have a mean ass bike but your not going to hookup on that type of surface. Mod Banshee
Yes you can run paddles. I buddy was there with his 250R and he had Paddles and he could not hook up either. I will have to look at my slips and I will let u know
badcompany
My best times are 4.33, 4.34, 4.38, and everywhere in the 4.40s. First day on the new setup i ran a 4.45 an my third pass, the track was still slick and then it rained so the race was cancelled. Gas 350 with no override, no wheelie bar, and inframes. alcoholbanshee
My fastest pass ever was 4.02 with 421 cub with a 20 shot. That was last year. I finally got a bike back together last weekend. It went a best of 4.32 @ 72mph on sand. It still has alot more in it and I have not hosed it as of yet. The motor is a stock stroke cheetah, I think 402cc's. It's NYUK's old asphault motor. I bought it from Andy at GRR he went 4.12 all motor on it this year. badcompany
a local shop in Albany, Ga, they really know theyre stuff. They had a 400ex like 4 years ago that was running 4.70s, and a alky 350 runnin 4.3s back then, and another 350 they built was turnin 6.3s in the 1/8 recently. They also do streetbike work, one of the shop workers has a gsxr1000 that hauls, he rode a street class kawi zx10 in a local race and was turnin 5.70s, and his 1000 makes it look weak. He just didnt want his times known, i hear he does some big money street racing. Edited August 17, 2006 by badcompany
trex banshee
man that is impressive, the track where i race is really deep at the beginning cause we also have a car class and it has to be deep for them to take off and the quads kinda sink for a little bit then take off. The 10mm cubs on alky only run like 4.2's or somewhere around there
badcompany
Yea, i bet the cars really tear the track up. Around here, the tracks are dirt/ clay, so they are pretty fast. The alky 350s run from 4.2s to 4.4s with an occasional 4.1, and the unlimited cub and bigger motors run high 3.8s to 4.0s. The track record at one track is a 3.78 by a 16 mill and the other track is a 3.86 with a 10 mill cub.
