Dinner
I was just having a thought today and was wondering when does the Rev Limiter kick in? I'm not sure whether or not im hitting it, or the shee is just cutting out due to the main/needle not being perfect. Like my plugs are are really nice light brown tan colour. So i'm pretty sure that it is good.

So i'm pretty sure that it is good. I've never hit the rev limiter on my shee, but on other bikes, it would "bounce off the rev limiter" in the top end. I knew I was hitting it, because it would cut the revs back, and then rev up, and do the same. I usually hit just trails, so I've never opened up my shee in 6th, but hey, a little bit of insight I guess.
Dinner
Yea i think when i go out riding today i will hit in in 3rd, or 4th..whatever and see what it sounds/acts like so that i know what to look for
dawarriorman
Banshee doesn't have a rev limiter for forward gears.
Dinner
Banshee doesn't have a rev limiter for forward gears. So do they have anything to stop them from revving too high
nitroburner13
as far as i know banshees do have limiters. thats why dyna advertises an extra 1000 rpm on the top end. i could be wrong but thats my opinion. correct me if im wrong cuz i would honestly like to know. csrmel
im pretty sure the stock banshee has no limiter. i think what happens is the exahust gets out of its efficency zone and the engine runs out of breath. i do know some banshees have limiters (maybe aftermarket?) because ive got a video of a banshee racing a mustang and when the banshee takes off he revs too high in first and you very clearly hear the limiter kick in. i
Duner440
Im pretty sure they dont have a rev limiter. I have been drag racing and missed a gear and revved it to the moon without cutting out. The only limit I know of is that one that goes BOOM!! Dinner
 Yea when i was out riding around in the field beside my place i was givin'er around in 2nd and it would start to cut out at really high RPM, and it did the same in 3rd. And it sounds, acts just like what it does when im up in the high revs in 6th. Like yea i have old DG pipes so that wouldnt help...So mayba csrmel idea is true. Cause then when you get High Rev pipes, etc. It might allow it to rev higher because it can breath better, etc  Edited August 15, 2006 by Dinner
BenBB
Stock CDI, there isn't one; just a matter of how fast the motor can spin and still make power. Aftermarket pipes will make more power higher in the curve but then drop in power (you've seen dyno charts, pipe designs try to achieve different peaks and/or angles of the curve)...I'm sure there's a more technical explanation, like reaching a barrier somewhere in air velocity that's gonna keep you under 11 or 12k or so with this motor's port configuration, but as far as an electronic component that cuts the ignition above a certain RPM, there ain't one. BTW last time I looked at Dynas, when I got one, I don't remember any mention of increasing RPM's; on 4-chokes yes, they have 'em, but not Banshees... LIM_Whiteboy4life
so whats the max rpm 10k-12k? :shoothead: i think in the 12k range it would throw something lol

txblueshee
Oh Ok...makes sense now. Thanks  Yup... the only way to lower/raise the tap out point on the 'shee is different pipes... Mike

munkenaround
by the way ....my sportbike has a 13500 rpm redline and that isnt high considering the new stuff. The new R6 hits 16500 (even though they advertised 17500).
