bobdawson350
hi guys im new here but i was hoping you could help me with a problem iv gt!! im having problems shifting from 3rd to 4th using my shee on an mx track but it usualy just doesnt go into 4th. but when draging and shifting up it either doesnt change up, or the gear box gets jammed up and im only able to get two gears usualy 3rd/4th presumably because its under more load! when not going that last 10% gearbox feels realy smooth! any ideas on what could be causing this?! ive already had the gearbox apart and everything looked in fine working order! no chipped teeth or anything like that. all i replaced was the retun spring on the shifter and the bearing for the selector drum. i thort id solved it but it happened again this weekend! cheers bob. bobdawson350
Yep, or your shift shaft is out of adjustment cheers for the replies guys as i said ive already stripped it all down and the shift forks all look fine ive had them all totaly to bits. but i suppose it would be worth checking the adjustment on the shifter again. coz its only taking the side casing of! cheers again bob. Yep, or your shift shaft is out of adjustment do you think it would be worth investing in one of those uprated shift stars?! cheers bob
Mxracer776
i to am having the same problem. :: please post how you fixed it.i am in the process of taking the motor back out and fixing the problem.since i have it apart i'm going to put in the yakkey shift cam and a shift star mod along with new forks and shift shaft assembly.i don't want to do this again. :shoothead:
dajogejr
The shift star mod will help you find nuetral easier when the bike is running, and will also help you shift a little better. Since you're already gonna have it apart to check the adjustment, might as well. However, it's not gonna solve your problem at hand.
TWILES
How tight or loose are you all running your chains? ALSO...How much play is in your clutch lever? You want to be able to pull it in with two fingers and it disengage right before you hit the two fingers that are still on the grip. Those are the only 2 things that had any determination on how my Banshee shifted gears other than me and I missed 3rd rarely and 4th rarely but they never jambed up. When I missed those gears was normally when I was playing around the house and not trying too hard. Edited August 15, 2006 by TWILES

I pull mine all the way in, or it will lurch a little when revving it up. My clutch is adjusted perfectly, both at the basket/outerhub and at the lever. I've also got a brand new basket, inner and outer as well. By pushing on the pullrod on the left side of the case, the arrows should line up. You should have about 1/8 inch of freeplay at the end of the clutch lever...or, be able to fit a nickel inbetween the lever and the perch before the cable starts to disengage... ohiobanshee
My brother in laws shee would not shift into 3rd. The pin on the shiftstar was wore a little. We replaced the shiftstar and it shifted fine.
txalky
When you say it jams up, what exactly happens? Can't shift up or down? Check your side to side play by push or pulling on the shifter itself and see if there is play there if so that may be your problem.
