Kinda possible I guess, but you would have to have some pretty crazy evolution shit going on to get creatures that looked like that. My favorite scene is where the creature starts to tear into the lady's stomach and eat her alive laying there. Awesome movie, I might go see it again. They left alot of things unexplained and didn't go into enough detail, which I hate. The ending was stupid too. Though I will say its the best horror movie I've seen in a while. Stop reading if ya don't want to know.... Yeah, you first see it at the begining when her (sarah's) husband takes the helemt off the asian chick (Juno) after rafting. But the key was Juno's necklace, which Beth rips off after Juno cuts her throat, has a saying on it. That saying was something Sarah's husband used to say all the time. Sarah tells us this in the cabin scene before the cave. When Sarah finds the necklace in Beths hand she finally puts it all together.
