28mm Mikuni Flatslides

What does speed tech recommend? They ported your cylinders...

That's a nice bump, but if you're gonna dune alot 33PWKs might be more up your alley.

 

I dont ever see the need to run more than two 28mm carbs on a banshee. I personally ran two 28mm mikuni tm flatslides on my old drag bike and it ran great. I currently run one pwk 35mm carb. Those guys with dual 34's and 35's all taper bored have enough carb for a 600cc banshee on their ported 350's. I have a 310hp 5.3L engine in my truck, it has a 80mm throttle body on it. That engine is about 7 times the size of a banshee motor.

How can you compare a throttle body (fuel injection) to a dual carb setup, and a big V8 four stroke to a small 2 stroke twin?

 

Let's get back to apples to apples.

 

For everyday playing around and modest porting, a single carb or small twins are fine.

 

So...based on your logic, Top Fuel Dragsters could run single large carbs and be just fine?

 

I'm sure your drag banshee did run great. But, if it had a motor with drag porting and drag exhaust, it would've been better with larger carbs, period.

 

It's a sacrifice... Twin larger carbs will lose low end, there's no way around that...but, it will increase top end overall. Drag racing is all about WOT....the more fuel the better, if the motor is built to handle it of course...

Proper velocity helps to actually increase intake speed just like a vacume. The v8 anology was to remind people they are 10mm short of what a small block chevy needs when they run 2 35mm pwk carbs.

 

You cant really compare a top fuel dragster to this nowadays. But the old style ones in the 70's used carbs for fuel delivery. The reason a 4500hp motor had two carbs stacked on the blower was because no one made a carb over 1150 cfm. Now days 8000hp top fuel cars are feed by a single blower with 42 fuel injector nozzles in the blower intake. So in essence I gues it does only have one throttle body. :biggrin:

I'm with you there...however, throttle body is still fuel injection, it's just not direct port injection...PWKs are not.

 

There's a BIG difference...

 

Ha Ha...yeah...42 nozzles and a blower...not that would be overkill on a 350... :beer:

I was a little suprised at the fuel injectors numbers too. I guess when your looking for a complete burn you got them at all sorts of angles. :yelrotflmao:

I agree, a Banshee that's used for typical riding, duning and occasional dragging doesn't need anymore than 28's or 30's for bigger bores..... or a single 35mm. If your straight dragging, then bigger might be beneficial at the loss of throttle response.

 

28mm flatslides are good carbs with crisp throttle response.
