Hollister_Hitman
My throttle cable is sometimes really hard to pull, sometimes it even gets stuck. I checked out my cable today and it was fine, the routing looked good. So I took the right T.O.R.S off and pulled the throlttle and it worked fine but when I but it back in the cable gets stuck. When the cable gets stuck I pull it toward the T.O.R.S and I hear the inside snap back to where it is supposed to be. So the throttle valve must be getting stuck. My question is what can I do to fix it? Can I just clean it and can I lube it(Inside the car don't know if it is ok). Or do I need to buy a new one? Maybe I am talking about the slides? Don't know the correct name but they call it the throttle valve in Clymers. It is the cylinder around the jet needle. Well I just searched for slides on here instead of throttle valve and I think all I have to do is clean it with some airasol cleaner. You can get a little clamp from RMATV that clamps on the end of the hose. Put the tube on the WD40 can and spray it in there until you can see clear WD coming out the bottom side. Of course, remove the cables from the carb first. While your there, do the same to the clutch cable as well.
TREELIZARD
my carb slides stick but it only does it whenever i get the carbs and airfilter really wet. all i do to fix it is unscrew the carb caps and pull the slides out and spray them off with WD-40 wipe off the excess with a paper towel and wipe out the inside of the carbs where the slides fit in, and then put the slides back in the carbs. The only thing i cant figure out is why it only does it if i get it really wet like hitting a deep pudle or if i accidently soaking the carbs and air filter when i wash it. pipebomb
squirt some Dri-Slide in it too. it's a graphite based lube that dries and leaves a graphite like film on the inside of the slide bore. used it for years and no problems yet.
