bigscary
My uncle had A KTM 550 2 cycle dirt bike and he had all the goodies on it.He used to sand drag it and he claims hes never been beat,he said the only thing that was even A close race was A banshee. anybody that claims to have NEVER been beaten isn't being honest.....everybody looses every now and then.... Whitey
About the turbo banshee idea... you don't need an oil pump/oil pressure like you would in a car. There are turbos that don't require an oil line. They have turbos specificly for 2-strokes. I had a 670 ski-doo w/a turbo, and it was a self contained unit. Every so often, you check the oil level, and top it off if needed. It was a very special oil you bought in a little bottle/vile which was clear and poured like molasses, that lubricated the turbo by saturating a felt material "like a wick" which touched the parts that needed the lubrication (sorry, I'm ready for bed and can't quite find the correct words to describe it). Easy. Yeah it was a company called Aerocharger (also Aerodyne I think) that made those hunks of shit. The company is now out of buisness becuase the turbos were so unreliable. Not only did they have a self contained CHRA using a type of gear oil they also had a VATN system where you didn't need to run a wastegate. It was a good idea but the turbos were just made shitty
phx450
I have both, a 450 and a banshee. I tried to make the 450 a fast drag bike but ended up looking at to much money to make it compete. Now its an MX quad only. The banshee is what i use for Old in glamis. But like i said 20 years of work on the banshee vs. 3-4 years on the 450's, dont worry they will get faster.
DUNE-A-TIC
They already are from what i've observed. The DS's,Raptors and all the 450's are making leaps in technology. Are they trying to close the years on the Banshee?I think they are just making a statement that they are here now and will be recognized as a formidable competition. Some of us think out-side the box and are transplanting older technology than the Banshee and making the same statement,so what does that say? greencoloredride
Everyone is saying 20+ years of progress for the banshee, but 4pokes have been around just as long if not longer. Yeah yeah, I know its not specifically the 450 or 660 or 700 etc. motors specifically but 2 stroke progress isnt just banshees either. Both have been in progress for a very long time and 2 strokes are just simpler to mod w/ less parasitic loss in parts thats dont directly contribute to power and firing to make power twice as often, its just logical that you make more power. Pound for pound, cc for cc a 4poke isnt going to have the potential of an equivalent 2 stroke. Plain and simple! Everyone talks about busa quads and other frankensteins but can u imagine the same displacement and number of cylinders but a 2 stroke? Its not even practical because the power would be useless w/out compensating w/ weight. BTW, I would like to know if anyone ever considered building a rotary engine small enough for a quad and boosting it. This could be insane. Its all about power to weight ratio. DUNE-A-TIC
Imagine it? Ohton has a 1100+cc Banshee motor. I wasn't aware practical ever entered anyones mind while building an all out drag quad. For some reason I was under the impression it was about getting to the end before the bike next to you. Silly me, we will start using Kubota diesels from now on. Dune

DUNE-A-TIC
Lol, got the point. But there realy is no point when asked the question of "the biggest threat to the Banshee" in a drag section.Answer is everything and anything someone can dream up and put on four(some 3)wheels. :baseball_w00t: Dune
BasicBajaX
This MIGHT be the new standard in quad designs/engines if Bombardier-CAN-AM wants to be the greatest threat to shee's. It's getting closer to comparing apples to apples. 350cc twin 2 stroke vs 450 twin 4 stroke. One puts out 50hp stock the other 65hp stock. Old technology vs new technology. The 2 strokes are not going to be able to hold there ground with out something new and what more can you do with them and be RELIABLE. IMO the 4 strokes are running in the 300ft ect, but you stretch that distance out any farther and they start fallin behind.
DUNE-A-TIC
Yep, better just quit now no matter what is in the mix or build stages. We are all doomed in the atv world if there is no twin 2stroke. Dune
Bubba_wrx
I think this is gonna be some pretty good competetion. :yelrotflmao: Sorry, I was bored.
