Greatest threat to the banshee

Banshee's are without a doubt the nicest quad to ever grace this earth... unless you have a drag 'shee or a big bore, you're pretty vulnerable.. although, I've beaten Raptors, 450r's, z400 LOL (smoked that pile of crap), and so on... with just pipes. The things I can think of that will beat a Banshee are things that, well, you don't see everyday...

LT500 stock or w/ a 550 big bore

Tecate 4 w/ a 350 stroker or a KX500 motor

TRX w/ CR500 motor

Banshee's are sick, I fuckin hate 4 jokes... never owned one (XR70 doesnt count) and I never will. Just cause they don't make 2 stroke quads anymore doesnt mean their extinct.. Banshee's will live on forever in the aftermarket!

i have raced a old cr500 dirt bike , and i beat him but from a 20 roll we are side by side until i get into 5th... THEN hes reading my shirt

I agree.I love my wife and daughter. If ever I had to sell it because they got sick or something and we had to have the money, the banshee would be sold in a heartbeat.

If she ever said to get rid of it just because she said so,I'd have to decide where I was going to go riding that weekend and she'd be out the door.

Thankfully I have a great wife that wouldn't do that but there is some crazy females that would.

I have to laugh, makes me think of the time I put my helmet on my girlfriend and told her hop on, and went wide open thru the trails, as fast as I could. Thank god the helmet muffled her screams as she thought she was gonna fly off the back... but since then she's loved quads, and knows that if I'd have to choose, quads or her, it's time for her to sign up on match.com

This year at the planet sand drags there was only one 4 stroke that got into the 3's, at a 3.96 I believe (I think, but there might have been one other one). And Im pretty sure it is the world record for a 4 stroke (quad based motor). I have seen guys run faster times than that on a stock cylinder, stock stroke banshee. But from what I have heard floating around on planet sand, there are guna be some pretty fast 4 strokes down there next year. But I know they still aren't going to be close to the banshee's. As far as the turbo's go, there was a turbo banshee down at the PS races that had stock cylinders, stock carbs, and I think stock stroke and was running "3.60's". To me, that is quite impressive. Anyone else know the bike Im talking about, it had a yellowish green frame, and sounded sweet.

I agree the banshees have held there own but whats wrong with some new 4 stroke technolgy. It seems shees are only getting bigger CC's.

That planet sand 4stroke was a 855 single. The other 4stroke was not far behind but both were hitting the nos hard just as the shees do. I think they both hope to drop maybe another tenth in october.

Dont let it suprise you if a aprilia 450 twin with claimed 65hp stock and a +14000rpm walks all over the zilla and shee. And then put a turbo on it and have a fast reliable new tech quad. Only problem I see is going to be the price....if it happens

I disagree. CP industries and Twister are coming out w/cylinders w/much better port designs. Cp industries is coming out w/some new designs for the Honda 250r based motors in all cc sizes makeing almost double the power out of the box from the stock design. I will admit, 4 strokes are getting faster, but it will be a loooooooong time before a quad based four stroke motor will even begin to touch the potential of the banshee. And believe me, the two strokes are still getting faster every day.

I agree with sheefreak,

and anybody who thinks 2 strokes are old technology, give harley davidson a call, I think they just recently had a 100th anniversary. And sure 4-strokes can come up with top speed, but nothing comes close to the off the line power of a modded 'shee. Simple is best, the fuel goes in, ignites, and the exhaust goes straight out the opposite side.

Hmm which would I rather have, something producing power on every roatation or something producing power on every OTHER rotation... And whos to say that Banshee's are just upping displacement? I believe thats a raptor that just came out in 700cc :yankyank:

and lets face it, 2 strokes are lighter, quicker, and much easier to maintain in both short term and in the long run.. and if mixing gas is too much for you, then maybe you should stick to simpler things like dance lessons and barbies.

Even Calvin at CP Industries admits it that the 4strokes have caught and won the single cylinder shootout at last springs Planet sand race. He said the 4strokes have caight the 2 strokes sleepin and I am sure he will be back to try to regain the 2stroke domination in that class with a new and bigger single. I am not so sure a new port design will will find twice the HP.

Hey gotta go, thanks for the basic design explanation of a 2 stroke. And where did mixing gas and dance lessons and barbies add to the topic of Greatest threat to the banshee-your opinion.

Well, Kinda off topic a little, and i dont know that much about the "details" of a engines and all that, but I've heard alot of people have been having alot of problems with these new 450's. Could be basically like any quad the "new bugs". Just thought i'd see what you guys thought about this too.

i think banshees are pretty hard to beat .

around here at the drags theres people who fit these 200hp snowmobile engines , road bike engines and they still get smoked by alchool banshees, but i think turbo quads will be the closest thing that willl come to a threat to banshees.

About the turbo banshee idea... you don't need an oil pump/oil pressure like you would in a car. There are turbos that don't require an oil line. They have turbos specificly for 2-strokes. I had a 670 ski-doo w/a turbo, and it was a self contained unit. Every so often, you check the oil level, and top it off if needed. It was a very special oil you bought in a little bottle/vile which was clear and poured like molasses, that lubricated the turbo by saturating a felt material "like a wick" which touched the parts that needed the lubrication (sorry, I'm ready for bed and can't quite find the correct words to describe it). Easy. :headbang:
