sredish
4 strokes can be pretty fast but it takes a lot of money to really get the power out. I have a grand in my head alone, 200 for a high comp. piston, 300 for a carb, 450 for the pipe. My quad dynoes at 54hp / 35lb.tq. That's a pretty good little chunk of power from a stock bore 4 stroke, but a stock banshee with pipes and porting can pull that. So, use that to compare. To get 65 hp out of a 450 take some big boring, stroking and/or alky. Raptors can make some pretty good power like maybe around 70 with a lot of work, I mean, a lot. Then, add nos and you have a banshee contender. But a good stroked banshee can spit out 75 pretty easy and with the right drag porting, can hit 70+ porting alone. Now, my cr500 quad project might be a contender, when it's finished. :baseball_shifty:
KlotzBanshee
The most realistic threat to banshee's I've seen is when some poor suckers let their wives convince them that the banshee needs to go in order to make room for a new minivan or wtf else she wants. :yankyank: DON'T LET IT HAPPEN TO YOU! racer
lol..... I see your banshee in your sig it looks just like one I saw at the sand show (Ontario CA) yesterday. Was that yours? lonestar
:yelrotflmao: the thing about four strokes is that you can only mod them so much What he said. This is so true. Four strokes can't take heavy porting you only can go so-far that's it. Once you start changing cams & porting they are a mother fucker to start. Your better off leaving it stock. Your performance will suffer if you go to far with the mods. Mickey Dunlop 4 stroke tech told me this years ago. When he did my honda 350x ATC back in 1987. mild cam, pipe, bigger carb, aries piston 11/1 thats it. No more than that. That bike was nothing to sneeze at. It hauled ass. But nothing like a banshee Edited August 8, 2006 by lonestar
Slow Banshee
The greatest threat to the Banshee would probably be the OWNER

I agree.I love my wife and daughter. If ever I had to sell it because they got sick or something and we had to have the money, the banshee would be sold in a heartbeat. If she ever said to get rid of it just because she said so,I'd have to decide where I was going to go riding that weekend and she'd be out the door. Thankfully I have a great wife that wouldn't do that but there is some crazy females that would.
phx450
Turbo! thats the ticket. At the night drags there was one 450, a silver one that before he broke his chain had no problems hanging with a good amount of the banshees at the hill. He was only running 4-5 pounds of boost, if he can fix the chain issue and run it at 8-9 pounds boost he will make many of banshees look bad. Just think once they get it perfected and tuned correct. That is the ticket on 4 storkes. Unless they make a two piston 450 or a 900 i guess. ?

However thats going to change since I designed a bolt on oil pump for a banshee: A 2-stroke can do whatever a 4-stroke can, only better  Edited September 2, 2006 by Whitey
chase@miamiatv.com
i give you prop's man thats a sweet part design ... Alot of tallent and brains requierd to make that shit . as to the greatest threat to a banshee ? the question is NONE !!!! HOW fast do you want to go , and how much can you afford. There is virtually no limit ! Tripple cylnder cheetah , 20Mm stroke , then turbo ?????????? with maybe some spray ?!?! broaden your horizons and let your money clip do the rest . phx450
Nice design, ever testd one? Dont forget the banshee has been around for close to 20 years. What happens when the 450 4 stoke quads have been out for 20 years? Either way if i have the money i can beat you! It sucks, but grudge racing is fun at the hill. but it would be nice to know what your running against. All i know is that turbo yfz was fast as hell. BasicBajaX
I think the Bombardier/Can-Am 450 twin will send all the jap bikes back to the drawing boards. I think the 2strokers are feelin us 4strokes catching up fast and we have only been competitive with the banshees for a few years....thus the 10mils, 20mils... chase@miamiatv.com
just remember theyre will always be someone faster then you. No matter how much money you spend or do , they're will always be some maniac with a 3cylnder cheetah custom banshee spraying.... Nothing is impossible. Just takes a good amount of money . Until they start making atvs that come with street bike engines stock , i wont buy a 4 stroke. Something about more moving parts , makes me not like them any more. gottago2stroke
Banshee's are without a doubt the nicest quad to ever grace this earth... unless you have a drag 'shee or a big bore, you're pretty vulnerable.. although, I've beaten Raptors, 450r's, z400 LOL (smoked that pile of crap), and so on... with just pipes. The things I can think of that will beat a Banshee are things that, well, you don't see everyday... LT500 stock or w/ a 550 big bore Tecate 4 w/ a 350 stroker or a KX500 motor TRX w/ CR500 motor Banshee's are sick, I fuckin hate 4 jokes... never owned one (XR70 doesnt count) and I never will. Just cause they don't make 2 stroke quads anymore doesnt mean their extinct.. Banshee's will live on forever in the aftermarket!
