It "felt" like it could pull the 16 tooth, but people here will tell you it won't, and they're probably right. It was a few years ago when I had the 16. Well, I now notice you have 18 inch tires..................well it could work for you. Go for it.
Animalman294
If you already have it, try it and see how you like it. But if you need to buy it, I think that you need a lot more power than that to pull a 16t front. It will run the bike but you won't have the out of the hole torque, nor will it perform to its potential with that gear. I would personally go back to the stock 14t or possibly a 15t, but I think with just the mods you have I would go with a 14t............my .02
dajogejr
Sorry...not gonna happen. It might pull a 15 with 18 inch rear tires, but...not very well. you need more than just pipes... What is a 355 kit? Bored like .030, right? Yeah, you're gonna need more to pull 16...
RILS
With the 18" tires yo will proably be allright.I ran 15 on mine when it was only piped with 20"tires and it had no problem pulling it and i weigh about 170 pounds. Now im running a drag port and 16/41 with 18"tires and start drags in 3rd.I think 16tooth with 18" inch tires is a little lower gear than 15tooth with 20" tires, imo the 16 shold work very well for you. Just my thoughts 13 to 16 is a buig jump. dajogejr has given me some good advice and rils has to i have t5's and run a 14 good hole shot with 20 skat tracks 9 paddles t5's kill the top but i think dajogejr is right you will need more than pipes to get a good hole shot or even pull it. But try it thats how you learn. If it dont try something else. just my thoughts though.

Your terrain has a big effect on your gearing.I was referring to dirt because thats where i ride and race. And yes its a big jump from 13 to 16.I went from 14 to 16 on a piped shee that also had 185psi compression with 20" tires and it was a bit much so i went to a 15.You will have to find what you like by tring diffrent stuff. If your modding gearing will constantly be changing, like i said im running 16/41 now and trinity pipes noss head drag port 34pjs and k&n pods and i start in 3rd and rip threw the gears like theres a 13 on the front.I would change it but next week ill be running a 4mill cub and switching to 22"prowedges and adjusting to that.Know anybody looking for a topend that will run in the mid 4s? slowpokebanshee
dude, counter shaft sprockets are like coasters....you got a bunch of them but you don't use em' all all of the time, and you can always set your beer on one your not using.....okay that was dumb, but they are cheap, and relatively esy to change out...I have 12, 13, 14, 15 fronts, and 37, 41, 44, rears, and all this fooling around with the changing sands at Glamis, super dry to wet a year ago, I am now back to 14-41 stock gearing, that it likes the best....b ut maybe I will need to change come Halloween, it's not bad to keep a couple different sizes in your tool box. ogre03
You deffinatly don't want a 16 on in the dunes. Sand will rape you of power. What tires do you run in the sand? That 13 is probably what you want with your mods.

dajogejr
Let me get this straight. You run a lot of dunes. You want to run a 16 tooth on a piped shee, stock motor You run 18 inch MX tires to do so. I've got your fix...pick up a boost bottle, that will make it all better... :: :yankyank:
J-Madd
Not to hijack this thread too much, but could I run a 15t on my Cub Banshee (mods in sig) w/ 22x11x8 10 paddle skat trak extremes? I'll be riding it at St. Joe State Park in MO. It's a sand-like dirt. Its the crap that's left over after they stripped the iron mines there. I'll have to remove a link in my chain to put a 14t on. dajogejr
You, J-madd, can pull a 15t no issues at all. I have 14/42 on mine now...and it just blisters the tires on anything... I can't wait to get in sand with my 12 rows....

I can't wait to get in sand with my 12 rows.... Well I would think so too, but with 22'' 4-snows (reversed) it seems like it doesn't pull 6th gear on dirt. But maybe I wasn't winding 5th out far enough. The CPIs are difficult for me to tell when it stops pulling, or if its spinning or whatever. It could be spinning it's balls off in 5th, then dive when it hits 6th and hooks!? Or maybe my jetting is way off. 52p,165m, clip in middle, needle taper=??, elev 300ft, temp 90+.
