Trouble removing flywheel..

Recommended Posts

It's called an impact driver...

You're best bet...take it up to the local auto repair shop if you don't have access to a 1/2 inch impact air gun. They can zip it in 2 seconds. While they're at it, thread in the puller, have 'em zap that too.

That nut is best put back on with impact, too....

You can play with the brakes, putting it in gear...and busting your ass. Or...you can do it the smart way.

One quick braap....done.

Yep, AIR impact is the only way to go..I had a whole thread on this a while back, and the breaker bar, and even a Dewalt electric impact would not budge it...had to get a good air impact, and it came right off...Also a good idea to impact the flywheel off to with the impact and the removal tool while the impact is available..>Good luck..

ok got it off.. fk that sucked.. Then I tried to thread the puller, began to tighten the bolt, and stripped the puller.... POS! Very soft metal. I gues its better than stripping the flywheel.. Anyone got another flywheel puller to sell?

The puller threads are revearse threads! Did you know that?

That's not funny...but, it is. I laughed out loud when I read that...

Hit the local dealership...it'll cost 10 or 15 bucks for a new one. Or..fleabay it.

It'll cost half that to ship it....

Because if it wasn't...it'd spin out of the flywheel when you were trying to tighten the middle nut against the crank to remove it.

Think about that....they have to fight eachother to work. The outer to stay tight on the flywheel, and the inner nut to push against the crank....

Spray some pb blaster around the shaft the flywheel sits on and let it sit for 10min then hit it with an impact gun. I have never had one I couldn't remove with an impact gun. Also, make sure you grease the tip of the flywheel puller, I've seen many of a puller ruined from no grease.
