More top speed?

This weekend im going riding and id say they will be alot of drag racing going on, these races will be on pavement and every time we race it comes to a top end battle, now my shee is bone stock since i dont ride it often, but i was planning on putting a 15t front sprocket on it, can it pull the 15t in 6th? I will be dragging the 450s, raptors, and a ds650 in which most of them only have pipes if anything. Will the gear change affect acceleration real bad? and if any, how many mph would it give on top end? Thanks for any input

You may pull that gear...but it's gonna take a while.

You're not going to beat a piped YFZ450 with your stock bike, period, unless the guy on the 4 poke weighs 400 pounds and can't ride.

Stock vs. stock, the 650 and 450 are going to beat you. Raptor...maybe. If it's a new 700, it will too.

For the minimal investment of pipes and a twin pod air filters, you'd make it a MUCH better race.

I mentioned twin pod air filters (completely removing the airbox) because you said pavement. If you decide you wanna trail ride and drive through mud, leave the airbox, remove the lid and get a K&N with outerwear....

Like dajogejr stated above if you are tryin' to run the 15t you need more power. Because 48-50 horsies just ain't gonna cut it. I mean the bike will pull that gear it just won't perform like you want it to, and because you will lug at the start line you are going to get spanked even with the same horsepower and similar riders....................

Nope...by the time you top out vs. them, you will not be able to run them down. Your engine flat out does not rev out far enough to make the good power you need to get up there, 6 speed vs. their 5.

Those 450's have a hella top end to 'em...especially those with cams.

Keep in mind, you're gonna need power to pull that gearing on the top...with stock pipes you won't have it...period.

Sorry...but not gonna happen.

Very True, I say Race them in stock form!!! Once you get smoked, That will give you the fever and there is no turning back after that :flamewar: My banshee was stock for about 4 hours when I got it new.....

My '06 was stock for 24 hours. When the dealer asked if I wanted the extended warrenty, I told him it would be voided as soon as I got home :flamewar: . Had the Cubs on the next day (crank is trued and welded now though).

My basically stock Banshee w/T5s will beat any YFZ, Craptor, etc. that I've raced. It beats them out of the hole and at the other end. Dirt, pavement, loose gravel, etc. It still smokes 'em. (Besides one Craptor that had 6 grand in motor work. And that was close.)

You may take the airbox lid off and rejet to get a couple more horses out of your stocker though. I've never ran 15t w/stock pipes, give it try and let us know.

I am skeptical on the T-5'ed banshee takin' the Raptor's and 450's. I will definately call Bullshit on the 6K Raptor bein' a close race with a piped only banshee. Even if he was a really shitty rider it should still stomp a basically stock shee with that kind of motor work. Either that or he needed to go slap the $hit out of his builder, and ask him what he was thinkin'.

The Raptor 700's are pretty damn fast and the 450's are just as fast if not faster.

Somethin's wrong with that equation...................

BS.

Equal riders/equal weight/equal skill

Those piped/jetted and air filter 4 pokes will beat a piped, jetted and air filter banshee all day long.

They make just as much power (if not a pony or two more), are easier to launch and easier to ride, not to mention 40 or 50 pounds less.

You need to tell Larry, Curly and Moe (the guys you ride with) to hang it up...seriously....

6 grand into a raptor barely beating a piped only shee? C'mon... Either you smoked your breakfast, or the raptor guy was smoking it as you were racing...

For 6 grand you could easily put 55 to 60HP to the ground on that raptor. Don't tell me your T5 piped banshee with about 38 HP is going to beat that....

Again, equal rider/rider weight/skill.

I would beat my buddies 450R with pipe, ignition, clean up port, cam and a few other goodies pretty consistently on my T5's shee, pods, timing plate and flywheel... I'd say 7 or 8 outta 10 times.

He also weighs 60 lbs more than I do...and is getting better, but only been riding for 2 or 3 years...

His bike in better hands would beat mine every time.

Yeah...I have two buddies with banshees, neither of which are done up like mine. All the rest of the guys I ride with have 450s (5 or 6 of 'em) a few 400EXs, and a few other odd balls.

Two of the guys I ride with have been riding a long, long time. Street bikes, dirt bikes, etc. They can ride, flat out.

Granted, the one is probably 190 pounds, he can still ride.

(However, took my cub out the other day...we played around and with both of us spinning on hard dirt and grass...I pulled on him pretty good for a 100ft race or so)...

I can't wait to get my cubby in the sand where I can get some traction, it's gonna be fun.

My jetting may not be perfect, but my YFZ mods are in my sig and my T5 Banshee smokes it. Sorry, I did forget to mention the Banshee has +4 or +5 timing and 150 psi, 60 over w/wiseco prolites.. I call that basically stock b/c it's not ported or stroked. List of 4 strokes this Banshee has beaten: My YFZ, YFZ with HMF full system, filter, ignition and cams, Raptor with CT racing pipe and porting, stock 700R raptor, 2 Honda 450Rs with pipes, filters and cams. I'm not bullshitting or speculating. I'll be at St. Joe state park this weekend if anyone wants to run it with a similarly modded Banshee. I'm not trash talking or anything, just stating what I've seen with my own eyes. My buddy that I let ride it is a hell of a drag racer also.
