chase@miamiatv.com
i like to see where the tires are going in ruts and groves etc... i was told by someone who i know very well that He had stock fenders and ran 83mph and cut them off and ran 86 mph , all this was on the radar gun ( i belive ) because hes the guy who has clocked my old bike/white bike. csrmel
ive heard the arguement that people cut the fenders so they can see how their tyres are hooking up etc. i think thats bs. who has the time to look behind you at youre rears when youre in the middle of a race? besides, anyone who knows what their doing can "feel" the tyres hook up. you dont need to see something. you can sence it by the feel and sound and throttle. ive heard the arguement for wind resistance too.well maybe if all you do if drag race then cutting ur fenders makes sence.... but most people dont strictly drag and ur body and helmet probably have more wind resistance than the fenders. i dont see people lopping their limbs off. the #1 reason people cut the fenders. survey says! it makes you feel cool. all the cool guys have cut fenders. so people emulate what they idolise and cut their fenders off too. ive seen cut fenders on everything including 50cc chinese 4 wheelers. does anyone here really believe a 50cc 4 wheeler is going to gain ANYTHING from cut fenders? nah! its all about being part of the "in crowd". its ok if you guys cut yer fenders. but ill keep mine stock. i actually wish they were even wider and closer to the ground. dajogejr
ive heard the arguement that people cut the fenders so they can see how their tyres are hooking up etc. i think thats bs. Every MXer out there will say you're wrong. Never said it was for hooking up, it's to see how the fronts are tracking, what they're hitting... ive heard the arguement for wind resistance too.well maybe if all you do if drag race then cutting ur fenders makes sence.... but most people dont strictly drag and ur body and helmet probably have more wind resistance than the fenders. i dont see people lopping their limbs off. I was gonna try lopping off my limbs...but, it made it harder to shift I heard... :yankyank: the #1 reason people cut the fenders. survey says! it makes you feel cool. all the cool guys have cut fenders. so people emulate what they idolise and cut their fenders off too. ive seen cut fenders on everything including 50cc chinese 4 wheelers. does anyone here really believe a 50cc 4 wheeler is going to gain ANYTHING from cut fenders? nah! its all about being part of the "in crowd". Personally...I really don't care what "other" people think. I myself like how it looks on my bike, period. And, it is proven to cut resistance from the wind, front and rear. No, I don't look back at my tires....that's a good way to cause a train wreck... its ok if you guys cut yer fenders. but ill keep mine stock. i actually wish they were even wider and closer to the ground. We're all entitled to our opinion...but your generalization of the above is false...period. I'll agree with you on the 50cc fenders...nothing to be gained. But, on real machines with some real speed and power...yes, it most definately does make a difference. If you're laying on the gas tank, as most are when drag racing, a round helmet I'm sure drags less air than a big ol stinking piece of flat plastic.... Bansh88
I cut the fenders on my ATC 70. It looks sweet and once again, they got in the way. Front fenders DO NOTHING for me. Why have them? When loading up my truck with gear, coolers and firewood, the fenders would get in the way. One more reason to rid myself of them. I have noticed a lot of guys trying to "be cool" and copy me! bansheeryder21
Most people do it because it looks 100 times better! That's why I did mine! I am glad I did too because I felt way more comfortable on my bike since I could see my front tires! Banshee front fenders are GROSS!!! :yankyank: Edited August 1, 2006 by bansheeryder21
MinEsFasteR79
I actually wasn't going to cut my fenders. but now that I see more and more shee's with cut fronts, I really like them. I ride pretty much everything including a little mud, and they don't really do anything with them on anyway. I've never done it before, so how do you cut the fronts? are there any how to's on here? nevermind guys. I found a how to. ^^ that was before I used the search engine. http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?...utting+plastics if anyone wants it Edited August 1, 2006 by MinEsFasteR79
Shee-Male
IMO it's a must to get those tractor sails off the front of the banshee, you can see where your tires are and it's much more comfortable to ride this way, non of my buddies have them either. CUT EM OFF, you'll thank us later!
ogre03
There are threads on here that tell you hoe to do everything possible to your shee. I recomend you look through 350twindeathbed's "let's see your banshee" thread on the images page first, and pick a style you like first. There are a few ways to do it, don't lop them off entirely before you check out your options.
