fastcar01
I am trying to figure out what inclines people to cut off their fenders. I was riding my buddies Warrier today that has the fenders cut off (he bought it that way) and I got completly muddy, and it wasn't even that muddy out. I mean, I guess you could agrue it looks better, although that is personal preference. I guess I just can't figure out why so many people do this, especially if you ride it on anything except dry concrete.
race-a-holic
Alot of people like the look.It also cuts down on wind resistance.
fastcar01
Alot of people like the look.It also cuts down on wind resistance. I seriously doubt there is any noticable difference due to wind, unless you are doing a speed run. But all the mud and dirt all over you probably kills the dynamics
chase@miamiatv.com
drag
CadillacBanshee
yup, drag. It makes a noticable difference when your jamming in 5th or 6th gear too.
differentstrokes
I kept catching my boots on them and scuffing them everytime I threw a leg over my bike so I hacked them off. I could care less if I get dirty, if I did I'd buy a street bike and stay on the road. Plus it looks cool.
Bansh88
I only ride sand. If you're riding in mud, you're going to get muddy. Fenders or not. Banshee looks a ton better without the front fenders. I took off my rear fenders completely. Less is more I always say!
Dinner
I have gone through mud before and after i cut my fenders. I have cut my front and rears, and to me there wasnt that much difference to make me change my mind, etc. As said above, if you are going through mud....you will get muddy, the rear tires will throw it up and over the rear plastics even if they are all there. And on windy days, it makes a hell of a difference, well i noticed after i cut mine. And yes it looks a hell of a lot better

Besides, a banshee doesn't really make the best mudder.

But all the mud and dirt all over you probably kills the dynamics Sure does, Dale. My buddy, about 4 or 5 years ago...took his BONE STOCK banshee to the 1/4 mile at Ubley... 74.5 MPH with the front fenders on. 77.6 with the front fenders off... I think it shaved about .2 or .3 off... I just remember it was a hair over 3MPH. The REAL reason people shave their fenders off is for MX. Riders want to be able to see what their front tires are hitting and how they are tracking. That being said... I gotta admit, I like the look too! You saw mine the other day, shaved front and rear. If you're gonna get Muddy...the shee is the wrong animal...that's what 4 strokes and ute's are for. HUGE fenders, floorboards instead of footpegs, and a little friend called 4 wheel drive... Not to mention, real ground clearance...

You aren't going to get "muddy" riding in sand, and I like to see where my tires are hitting on stuff sometimes.
Bansh88
Oh ya. It does add a lot more visibility in front of you. One less thing to get in the way of wrenching as well.
dajogejr
You can tell this guy doesn't drag race. Be nice...Red... He just bought my T5's...helluva nice guy. He's having a hard time getting those pipes on, so...I offered to help him with that, jetting and TORS removal if he'd like.... I'm a 45 minute drive for him. Bansh...very good point. They can get in the way as well!!!
GleasmJA
i can say that i like the looks better. And you will get muddy no matter what fenders you have on the shee. I just got new fenders for mine... and before it even went out of the garadge... i had cut the fronts off. But to each his own... if you want them,, keep them. That's all there is to it. But for me...CUT THEM.

Ask Rippen, he's ridden with me a couple times and knows I'm just joking around most of the time. Cutting the fenders really does help with working on things. Its so much easier to get to stuff up in front. Also less time to remove plastics for lots of wrenching.
