New port job!

Recommended Posts

I'm in the middle of getting my bike ported by Kevin Herr this week and have a few questions on some things to go with it!

1.) I need to get my crank welded and trued. Where is a good shop in San Diego where I can get that done at a good and honest price? Please, anybody!

2.) I want to port/bore my stock reed cages. Does anyone have any pictures of how to do this or have a link to where I can find some good info and pictures! Kevin showed me a basic example of what I need to do, I just want some more in depth info so I don't F-them up! I'm going to remove the brass brackets on the inside and replace the stock reeds with Boyesen reeds. What size should I get?

3.) I was looking at the Barnett High Performance Clutch Springs since I will be putting out a lot more power! They're only $15. What do you guys think! Worth the money???

There was one more, but I forgot! Just to get it out in the HQ community, so far doing work with Herrjugsracing has been nothing but a good experience! Kevin has made everything very convenient

and simple! He has shown me exactly everything he is going to be doing and explained why! He is overly confident that my bike will scream after this port job! We'll see how the outcome! Just wanted to throw that out there! Check out his website www.herrjugsracing.com.

I'm pretty sure you can use boyessen reeds but if you hog out the bridge then you have to use pro series reeds. As far as springs go I think you can get Tusk HD springs from RMATV for 6 buck or somthing like that. Depending on what your getting done you should be fine with 3 stock and 3 HD springs. That was the set-up I always used and I never had mine slip.
