I am running 110 octane av gas or avation fuel, whatever you wanna call it. The guy that built my bike said that that is the only thing that I should use. (I also use Bel-Ray synthetic racing oil) Is there gunna be a noticable diffrence if I just used 91 octane as opposed to the av gas I was just woundering. Im gunna keep using the av gas but i was just wounderin

really, I thought he said that is was drag porting. mabye it was dune. I need to call the guy and ask what kind of porting he did for sure. Also im not sure on the dome sizes either. i will have to ask him about that as well and check my compression. I am very new at this so don't be too hard on me. This being the 2 stroke world.

no worries about being new. everyone was new to 2 strokes at one time or another. personally i think you never stop learning.

just do me and youreself a favour and dont run anything but that 110 untill you get a positive conformation that you can run a lesser octane gas. if youre engine is setup close to the limit for 110 it would destroy its self on 91 or 93. so untill you get a conformation play it safe and use the 110.

LOOK HERE!!! just so you know, AV gas especially if ti is low lead or LL will eat your your gaskets away if you leave it in there to long. make sure you drain ALL fuel out of your carbs if you are gonna let it sit for a while and run reg fuel through it. be careful though with making sure you get that out of there as well befor you crank it back up. why dont u go to your VP dealer and get some U-14 i think it is. its got to have more of a punch since it is oxygenated or he can tell you which fuel would be a better alternative that av fuel.

Eat Your Gaskets. I wounld'nt have that in my airplane. That's a first. Never heard such thing. All it is (100LL) low lead refined gasoline pure and simple. Controlled through FAA regaulations I've used this fuel for years on my first motor with no problems. With a few hundred other people.

Huh? Do you have any information written by a reputable source? I'd hate to see a plane go down because they had bad gaskets....

Sounds like horse dung.

People run AV gas cause it's cheaper...but not usually as much octane as leaded race gas.

The difference in price for AV gas vs. VP U-14 is substantial, you might as well run leaded race gas for the price of that stuff...

STFU, and go away. You obviously know NOTHING about AV gas. It doesn't eat gaskets. Its gas, plain and simple. More highly refined than most gas, but its still the same.

:baseball_bat: thread robbers....lol

back to the topic.....

I believe you need 110 or higher if you have 140 psi per cylinder. you should only have a 10% difference between cylinders. need a rebuild if it gets around 90 psi. I did my top end when I hit 90 psi, and my rings were 1/10th out. meaning if I had replaced my rings around 110 psi i might no have needed a bore.

anyway....I bought my compression tester at the AuTo ZoNe. think it was 20 bux. and I have used it a bunch...so good purchase IMO. Also, I heard on here that you want a tester that has approximately the same size as your plug. being that its drops into the cylinder the same amount as your plug. this will give you a better reading.

mine isnt...but I think the readings are close enough for whats its worth.

good luck

ok, i guess what i am trying to say is that as soon as i put that stuff in mine it started to leak. i guess it is jsut because i am a poster boy for murphy's law. did not mean to get everyone's feathers ruffled plus a reputable mechanin in my area told me that that was most likely the problem. guess i just always had bad luck wih it in my blaster. :ermm:

I used AV gas for allmost a year. It is rated from 100 to 104 oct. It has additaves it for airplane engines. The only problem I have had is that it started to gell for a lack of a better word. It turned into a green goo. I was using Castrol 927 and not sure that had anything to do with it.

I have switched to 110 Racs gas and can see a little difference but not that much (other than price) AV gas 3:45 a Gal...... Sunoco 110 7.70 a Gal

I would rather run the AV gas, except I got tired of having to flush the carbs every time I wanted to ride.

Do a Google search for avation gas. Good info!!!
