what is wrong

Ok most of ya guys now i just got my shee two days ago and i bet it only has about 30-45 min ride time on it max now. i got my buddie to go down to the river we wernt out there 10 min and it started to do this: when i pulled in the clutch all it did was rev real high then When i let out on the clutch when it was in gear it would run fine. But when the clutch was pulled in or when it was in neutral all it would do was rev real high. so i turned it off and called the guy that i got it from and he said to take it to the guy that just built it for me and it would probably be an easy fix. Somethihg like the throtel was sticking somehow or a piece of dirt got caught in the slide or something. I just wanted to get your guy's and gal's opinions. he said that he would pay to have it fixed so i thought hell i'll just let him then that way i don't have to mess with it. I have to have it done by saturday though because i have a lot of friends comming down sunday to go ridding and i will be TOTALLY PISSED if its not ready. but it should be right. oh ya and my buddy was razing me aboiut it the whole time like hahaha i told you so thats the life of a banshee guy. I told him to go get a cup of SHUT THE FUCK UP! cause i just smoked him on his 500 preditor like 2 min b4 hehehehehe!

What darelick put that bike together? Stock carbs, drag porting and T6 pipes?

Talk about your mismatches....

Anyways...if he's gonna pay for it, which he sure as shit doesn't have to do, get r done, whether it's ready in time or not. There will always be another weekend to ride. Save your money...let him pick up the tab.

I'd bet it's got dirt in the carb, he tightened the carb cap too tight, or it's got a bent needle.

Let the mechanic fix it...and be done with it... That mechanic will never be able to tell you with any certainty when it'll be done without having it in the shop. But...once he tears into it...he should be able to. Chances are...if he can't get it done in time, you won't be able to either.

Predaturds are slow, period. They look kinda nice, and can be made quick...but not fast. They are a great trail bike, just heavy and slow.

I can fully understand the $$ thing, this is not a cheap sport. I just feel Pipes first, porting and then the carbs. They all compliment each other....

Here's what you can do...

Loosen the L Bracket shaped hold down first. Loosen the carb caps. Tighten them snug by hand, do NOT use a pair of channel locks... Tighten down with the hold down bracket.

Now...sync them up using the 8mm sleeve and 10mm locknut. Loosen the lock nut, turn the adjusters up or down so both slides open the same time.

If this seems a bit beyond you...have the mechanic do it. However...if this was just built by him, and the carb caps weren't tight...I'd think twice before taking it back to him once it's fixed this time!

ya i just tried to start it and i bet i just kicked it liike 25-30 times and it never started and b4 it started on the first kick every time. I also noticed that the run and stop or kill button does not work either you have to dump the clutch to kill it and that is not good so i will have to have that fixed also. But i was woundering if that had anything to do with it not running right?

it will start with the botton messed up right? if so it wont casue it to run funny it just wont shut it off. im still willing to bet you that the needle is bent i did that along time ago and i had the same prob... buddy of mine wasnt payying attention and dropped the needle in the carb and it hit the side of the jet and when he went to push the slide in it bent the needle...

I've stripped all my wiring on mine. I have a metal on/off toggle and that's it. then again, I'm without lights, etc. I will get a tether hooked up one of these days...:)

Anyways...

You better wait till that wife is out of nursing school and IN practice a few years before you build a cub. Whatever you think it's gonna cost you, double it!!!

Makes me sick to think how much I've spent this year... And I found a local guy to me, great guy, who could've built me a 10mil cub motor on Alky for about the same amount of money...

OH well, next year...:)

Hey I finally figured out what the prolbem was man.......Well....I didnt but the guy who built it did i was there for 10 sec he walks right over to the idel screw it was scrwed all the way in because it did not have a lock nut in the carb kit that he put on it and he forgot to tell me to get one (they ar like .10 cents) anyway that thing fired right up first kick and ran great man i sure am glad it was not serious i sure should have been able to figure that out man i feel kinda stupid now but oh well i will know one thing to look at next time huh? Oh and double the price that i think huh? well she owes me i have been working for the last 8 years we have been together and she has not ever had a job. well granted she does raise the girls and that is tuff job but i put in like 70-75 hours a week on the sales floor ( i sell car's) and she promised me i could build what ever kind of quad I wanted when she gets her job. they are sarting nurse's out around here at about 22-25 per hour so I bet she will be able to afford it.

Once you check the carbs, start it and spray some WD40 or Carb cleaner around the carb boots/reed cages. If the idle goes down you have a leak there.

Thanks for the tip fascar01 I'm sure that will come in handy down the road

Double the price of the motor parts.

There's a good thread on here about the cost of a cub...you're not buying just the engine. You have gearing, swingarm, tires, chain, clutch, carbs, pipes.... It adds up quick.

Don't kid yourself, you can work 100 hours a week on the sales floor, her raising the kids is a harder job than you'll ever have!

Not trying to put you down...but, it is the truth!!

HAHA ya your right man I could not stay home with them all day I would go crazy. But she is in school as of now from 8 a.m. until 4:30 mostly in the hospital doing clinical's(sp?) so she is a lil less stressed out now that she actually has some time to herself.
