headsup
Hey guys, I was wondering if anybody else has dragged a Bombardier ds650 against your banshee? My buddy has one thats stock except a slip on mullfler and a bigger main jet. My banshee has mild porting, a T-5 exhaust, trinity cool head with 20cc domes. I can beat him evry time if I shift halfway decent. I beat him by maybe 8-12 lenghts? Its kinda hard to tell when he's behind me! I'm just kinda surprised that it's close enough to beat me if I don't hit the gears pretty good. Am I slow or does this seem close to the norm. His quad is heavy, but I guess a ROTAX 650 probably puts out a lot of power. Any thoughts on the subject? racing against 2 650ds with some mods, my shee won 6 out of 6 drags by lenghts, no problem. rocketboy
they are big bananna tanks ,what good is 65hp when it weighs in over 600+punds ..thats way to fuckin heavy IMO.IM sure you could dump many thousands of dollars in them and have a pretty quick fourstroke but yo u still have an heavy ugly tank. might as wel linvest it in a yamaha ,second place is first loser

From what i hear the ds is suppose to be 1 of the most fastest motors after mods, deal is with any 4 stroke costs a fortune to get serious hp's, compared to the 2 stroke. lowriderb
i know jeff (thebom) and scott (choosetolose) as well.. and ive met crazy c in misouri.. first crazy c's banshee is not 150lbs.. theres almost no way you could safely get it down to that weight without some serious safety questions.. or frame strength issues.. jeff's bike is an 830 with nitrous, weighing in right around 300lbs on the suspended chassis.. scott's bike is a half chassis wieghing in right in the 315 or so range as well.. both hp research (rigid) and jeff's (suspended) bikes went into the sub 4's, and scott's (suspended) is now hunting sub 4's last i talked to jeff his ds hit into the 120+ hp range on the spray, and scott's was in mid teens.. i honestly dont think a ported banshee would hang any of these 3 bikes.. choosetolose04
But a 400EX could...hehe..Shhhhhh!!! Dune You care to elaborate on the type of engine in that 400ex?

dajogejr
i honestly dont think a ported banshee would hang any of these 3 bikes.. If you mean just porting....yes, you're correct. But I've seen stock cylinder, stock stroke drag banshees (yes, drag frame, pipes, alky) etc., in low 4's all day long, no bottle. Put the bottle on 'em, and they're sub 4 bikes pretty easily.... Yes, they are drag ported and the works....but, I'm not exactly sure what you're referring to as far as "a ported banshee"... Sure....those DS's are fast bikes, put half that money in a banshee and it will that fast and more.....all day long.
J-Madd
I raced against what Jeff calls his "trail bike" this last weekend. I could beat him a couple times in 300 ft. It was easier to beat him in 400 ft, though. However, he may have barely beat me a few more times than I beat him. It was damn close. But when he sprayed the nitrous, it ran away from me. His wife was there on an 800 Outlander max running 70+ MPH on this track. It would run with a piped banshee from start to finish, though it did not beat my other Bansee. Unbelievable. This is a 4wd utility quad w/a pipe and programmer.

BANSHEEPRO
anyone know the name jeff ross? he has the 2nd quickest quad in the world last year and this year it is third quickest....and its a ds. it is a 830 on nitrous....his wife races it also...REAL EFFIN FAST. he comes to our drag races here in missouri and a guy nicknamed crazy c is all about banshee's, has a 115 hp banshee weighs 150 lb on drag frame cant even get close to his bike....dont remember what jeff ross' bike is putting out. my neighbors ds will run 94 top speed, and i can just barely stick with, but in 300 ft its all me by about 3 bikes. they are fast, but like everyone said costs at least twice as much for them to do what a banshee will do. my neighbors bike (and mine) has taken several several cam'd and piston'd yfz, craptors, big bore 450r's ltz's with ease. those bikes around here are a dime a dozen. about 50% of people have them. very few have banshee's...kinda sucks I DONT KNOW WHERE YOU GUYS LIVE BUT I AINT NEVER SEEN NO SLOW DS'S BUT HEY I CAN SEE WHERE THESE PIPED,JETTED 36HP STOCKERS HAVE A SHOT AT A 45 OR 50 HORSE 650 CC ROTAX POWERD BIKE...LOL ::
Ron Iverson
Keep them honest Scott. Team Bombarier First. My name is Ron Iverson. My user name on all other forums is DSNUT except this forum. Someone has chosen to impersonate me by taking my username. When I post on this forum it will be under "Ron Iverson". One of two people could be responsible for this......Keep posting and i will figure it out............ I am a DS fanatic but I have several Raptors to. The DS Rotax motor has the strongest base to build hp from of any production single cylinder 4-strokes in ATV's. Watch for even faster times to come from these Pigs! I currently own a HPR800 Race Motor and have a Sand Viper DMR chassis on order as its new home. We run about 95 hp at the rear tires on all motor and a 40 shot that produces about 48 at the rear tires with this head. Total weight ready to go down the track is anticipated to be in the 270 to 280 range. Eric's 280 lb 855 was running a small shot and turning 116 hp at Planet Sand when he ran the 3.96, 3.97 run. We expect this setup to run low 3.9's and if we can get all that power hooked up with this revolutionary new chassis and drive system, we fully expect 3.8's. I won't say another word about it until we post some real times at Planet Sand this coming April. Ron

Braap_a_Banshee
back when my quad had nothing on it but t6's and pod filters, i would beat every ds that i would drag at pismo. from stock to piped. never lost to one except for a group of 3 guys that had alba racing ds's that were quick! Damn 4-pokes are makin some torque these days, came a looooong way from warriors and 400exes, but i'm just going to say look at the size of the engines, 870cc ? really ? Drag an 870cc banshee on the bottle then...no chance in hell....end of story. I never raced a ds650, but I'm sure they rip, i rode one of those 8004x4 jobs with the big 3 and it was definately impressive for a noise maker, he was neck and neck with my 700xx, but my shee feels a hell of alot faster than my 700...
