slowpokebanshee
my cylinders are being ported right now, "dune/drag" sea-level at Glamis, t-5 pipes, k&n clamp on filters, head milled .030, lightened flywheel, +8 timing advance,14-41 gearing would the 38 be too much, or okay and good for future mods, aka cubs? 4mm stroker? my brother has same port same mods, and dual 35 pwk's.....I like the fuel efficiency of the single, and ease of jetting... bansheeryder_69
stay with the dual carbs. i would say 34's for that set-up.
slowpokebanshee
what "single" carb should I get......if I go duals I will get 35 pwk's like my brother...his rips....
sredish
I wouldn't go bigger than a 35mm on the single carb. Jetting for low to mid throttle could be an issue, due to a vacuum loss at lower rpms on the big 38mm single. Or, your best bet may be a pair of 30's. A pair of 35's are just too big for anything other than dragging IMO. While they feel powerful, he's probably losing out on some low end, which that loss will give him some snappiness in the mid-rpms, which people often translate as more power, but it's actually a loss in power. locogato11283
id run dual 35s. we have had very good luck with them on our 4mm motors. so if you upgrade youll already have a good set of carbs...

I would run a single pwk 35, thats an awful lot of timing for a higher compression engine. Stepped flywheel keys are also a weak point that often break. I run dual 34s on my setup thar is very simlar to yours, went from stockers to them and since i got them dialed in I saw no lose on bottom and a stronger midwith a lot more rev.Im running 148 main 45 pilot with a cel needle.I agree the single would be easier to tune but other than that i see no advantage. In the long run you will happier with the 34s or 35s if your planning on a 4mill cub.Im in the process of building one now with the help of Dan@a&s and thats one of the first things he said "they like lots of fuel" ive not talked to many people running a single with a cub. Polish
I just got in the mail TODAY.....my 35 PWK's...........awwwwwwwwesome...........I at one time had your same setup..........I was running 34 pj's (oldskool)...........and the carbs seemed to be toooo much...........so I went with 28 PWKs.........and then the bike lite up!!!!!..............But know with the stroker and cylinder mod I went to 35 PWK's.............(the neighbors hated me tonight........playing with my new toy)
slowpokebanshee
it's an adjustable stator plate, not a new woodruff key....and what about the advantage of fuel consumption, I have talked to people with the single carb, and they don't use half the fuel as mine, my uncle has a single carb with stock tank, and I have a desert tank with stock carbs....and we refuel at the same time, ....understandably riding style plays a big part, but also single carb setup w/intake filter etc, is like 500 bucks how much for 34's or 35's w/intake filters etc.? This bike is a 4mm stroker, with t-rex cylinders. Its 460cc with 2 into 1 intake and a 38mm lectron on 50/50 race gas. It goes like heck. The guy that owns it is my best friends dad. differentstrokes
You're seeing more and more big bores and seriously fast quads running 2 into 1's so you know they can work properly on large motors (cascade is one of them). I'm sure big carbs are great for dunes and drag, but that's the last thing I would want for trails or play. As far as a single, I think 35mm is pretty standard and gives you some options later on unless you build a monster motor and have to upgrade to a 38mm. slowpokebanshee
that's all I do is dunes/drags....don't even own knobby tires....would 38 be too much? what if I go w/stroker later on etc.
slowpokebanshee
let me ask this? what would be a good motor to build around a 38mm 2:1 carb setup? for dunes/drags?
jeepman128
I'll let ya know if it works on a 421 cub within the next few weeks, that is the same set up i am hoping for. A great duner/ partial dragger. The single 35 is on my bike now, but after talking to Tim at Cascade, he has preached to me the potential of this motor with a 38. From what he was telling me with his 4mil cub w/ a single 38 and pt's on his bike, he was suprising quite a few cubs set up with duals and drag pipes. but again... i'll put in my "official" ride test after the night drags later in August. let me ask this? what would be a good motor to build around a 38mm 2:1 carb setup? for dunes/drags?
