Sandlizard
I'm getting ready to buy some new boots. I have Alpine Stars motocross boots and they seem to limit my mobility at the dunes. I have been wearing my Sidi sportbike boots and Icon's (Look like work boots) but they get filled with sand I can't get rid of when I ride the street. Is there a specific A.T.V. boot that can give me the coverage, and protection of a MX boot? And still flex?

Is there a specific A.T.V. boot that can give me the coverage, and protection of a MX boot? And still flex? Don't know if you've seen them, but a lot of companies are making a half boot now. They are popular for adults who race 50's. I believe they come just above the ankle and look exactly like the lower portion of an MX boot. They should provide all the mobility you're looking for while still protecting your ankle and foot.
Sandlizard
That was an option I was looking into, thanks for the advice. I have almost decided on Sidi Discovery boots. Anyone own some?
locogato11283
i thought the point of riding boots was to limit mobility of your ankle and foot to keep it from getting hurt. i have alpinestar tech 6's and they are really broke in and flex well but still keep my ankles in place. what kind of mobility do you need as long as you can shift and brake?? I believe that is precisely the point of the half boot, plenty of flex and keeps the ankles in place without needing to be broken in. I can't speak for A'Stars Tech 6, but my Tech 8's suck on quads. They pinch and bind due to the cramped riding position that a quad affords. Bikes are a completely different story, maybe due to the fact that the boots were designed for motorcycle riders. I think the half boot could work out well for many ATV riders. Don't knock it till ya try it. Edited July 27, 2006 by reded

KlotzBanshee
I have some Alpinestars Tech 7s. They were a little too stiff at first and I wasn't sure I would like them. After one season of brake in they loosened up and now I won't ride in anything else.

If you're worried about ur feet falling off and getting hung up in the tires you need to learn how to ride. Juuuuust sayin.
