Clutch Prob?

Recommended Posts

I was riding today and all of the sudden my shee sounded like shit...

i read a post reeds going bad.... tell me what you think

I was riding normal...then slowed down to make a turn by my friends house...(real slow turn....cant piss of his parents) then when i got back on it , it was like poping and shit...and i don't mean the exhaust i mean like if you were hitting a pencil on your computer desk but in no specific order...( IE not like it was something hitting in the cylinder..at a steady beat) then i turned around freaked out so i shut it off as i coasted down the hill so if it was bad i wouldn't make it worse...and try to get as close to the house as possible... then got tired of slow and started it again and it sounded fine....when i pulled in the garage it sounded normal and then i thought maybe i could here a little rattle on the right side but It is VERY possible i was hearing things....

info---

Difficult starting

past week... left carb leaks gas when off if gas is left on

I have flat slide carbs

and one bolt from the four bolt reed cage is suddenly missing

thanks for your help

Colin

Just noticed you have this in both areas..lol

Take teh clutch cover off and have a look, you could have broken some teeth on a few things and they are jumping around, could be anything, rip into it when you have time and take a look as dajogejr said

And just a thought, but it isnt the kick starter shaking around is it?

D'oh...easy to overlook the easy ones, eh? Yeah..make sure it's not the all common banshee kickstarter rattle. Start it up for a BRIEF SECOND, and hold your kick starter. IF it goes away...go ride...if not, shut it off IMMEDIATELY.

I was thinking along the same lines...but didn't want to scare him...it could very well be bore, crank rebuild, top end...etc. time...but, best to start looking first. He could've broken a clutch spring, plate, etc. Hopfully something simple and cheap.

But...an air leak is never, ever a good thing!!

like dajogejr said a air leak is not good had a intake boot crack one time and was sucking air and caused it to run with the kill switch pulled out had to yank air filters of and cover the carbs to get it to stop running
