micorps1
Hello everyone, quick question. Is there anything else I can do to make my throttle easier to push besides the motion pro throttle kit w/ thors removal and an extended billet throttle lever? After about an hour of riding my thumb still feels like its gonna fall off. Only additional thing i can think of is maybe incorporate thumb exercises into my workouts at the gym. Thank for any help you all can provide. Tim M
Bansh88
Unless something is hung up in your throttle cable, it's just fatigue. Ride more! At the start of the season, big rides will have my thumb hurting. By the third trip out, I don't notice anything. KEEP RIDING!

wesw
grind the edge of the springs. but do it very lightly dont just mash it into a grinder. might take a while but it will weaken them and be a lot softer. sometimes you can cut a coil or 2. depends on teh carbs. dajogejr
Since he mentioned the TORS removal, Wes...I assuming he's got stockers. Wes is right, find a rubber hose with the same OD as the spring's ID...or something like wooden dowel, etc. that just makes it easier. very carefully, and very slowly, remove a little of the metal off the outer edges of the spring. Then, again, carefully and slowly, use a fine wire brush or scothbrite pad to smooth this work out...you don't wanna snag the springs on the slide or carb. You should never clip the springs. This will make it easy to pull intially...but harder after 1/2 throttle or so...

micorps1
wow if youre that weak you cant push the throttle with stock carbs, you better never upgrade to aftermarket ones... WOW!! Thank You for the kind words, I guess I will clearly state that my thumb fatigues after an hour or two racing and am trying to better prepare myslef and my quad for 2 hour CC racing. It doesn't phase me to just go riding in the dunes (When i lived in OR) or trail riding. But training for GNCC and hare scrambles is another story.
