trueraiderfan
Ok I am getting my shee TODAY WHOOO HOOOO finaly after six weeks of waiting. Anyway I have seen a couple things that have made me think i dont know shit about them know after I was just thinking that I knew a lil about them now. Ok I thought the only oil that you put in the was the transmission oil and the premix oil (oil in tha gas). Are you also supposed to put oil in the crankcase? Your not are you> i could have sworn i seen on here were some body said that they put oil in their crank case but mabye i was mistaken and mabye i am just getting ancy about trading my 4 poke and getting a real bike :baseball_w00t: also I also see where guys say that they change their transmission fluid every other ride. I mean is that necessery? cant you change it like every 5 or 10 rides or am I wrong there. Not tring to be a tight wad just don't wanna wast money if I dont have too. Also the transmission oil is what keeps the clutches wet also right? Sorry just dont wanna fuck anything up just getting the jitters of having a totally diffrent animal I guess. But i cant wait to go pick it up and get of this 05 z400. I get my ass handed to me all the time on this thing :baseball_wibble: . Thanks for any comments
DRI4life
crank case is the same as trans oil and even the clutch oil.. it all goes in the same dipstick.. i change mine every other trip.. it doesnt have to be black to change it.. Dinner
I usually change mine when ever i think i should. But usually after 5 or so rides. Have you decided what fuel ratio you are going to use? Edited July 24, 2006 by Dinner
trueraiderfan
No I have not i am glad you asked me that I was told by the stealership in town that 32:1 was the way to go. What do you think.
bigboybanshee
Premix ratio depends on what brand oil you're going to run. Some recommend 32:1, some at 40:1, others at 50:1 and so on.... I run castor 927 @ 32:1.
RILS
crank case is the same as trans oil and even the clutch oil.. it all goes in the same dipstick.. i change mine every other trip.. it doesnt have to be black to change it.. The crank case is a totally seprate compartment than the transmission. The only oil that goes in the crankcase is what you put in your gas.I change my gear oil about every 5o6 rides or like stated above when ever i feel like its needed. Those are the only two places you put oil.I run 32/1 maxima 927 in the gas and the yahama gear oil in the clutches. You will learn as you go.Go ahead and pick you up a clymers manual and a compression tester, you will need both of them in the future and it explains all the maitnence stuff in detail.Goodluck with your new shee there one of a kind. jbooker82
I run Klotz Super Techniplate at 32:1. Maxima 927 is a good oil as well. With the machine you have I would run at 32:1. Cheap insurance for an expensive engine.
letsgetthisdone
Amsoil dominator (full synthetic) at 40:1, and 80wt Maxima MTL (manual tranny lube) for the tranny. The oil change interval for the transmission depends on how much u abuse the clutch. These things do hold A LOT of oil (1.5L) for a bike (the 2 stroke dirtbikes run less than 1L). I cange after every trip to the dunes(2-4 days long) cuz the clutch gets abused out there. But when i am just bombing the desert i change it every other month when i go for a ride twice a week.
