Guest WICKED ATV
I am stuck between buying cheetah cub cylinders or T-REX. I have not seen a cheetha cub with my own eyes but ive got to watch a 500+ cc T-REX at our asphalt drag strip and its a monster almost a 10second 1/4. but whats the pros and cons between the 2. im looking to build a asphalt dragster but something i can throw paddles on and play too. oh yeah whats the price on t-rex porting also? thanks
Ruko
Get ahold of a builder you want to go with and talk to them... that's the best way to figure out what will work best for you. I got my Cheetah from K&T, and I am very happy with it. They build all the all different engines Cheetah, T-Rex, Cub, etc... so they can help you figure out what you need for what you what it to do. Check them out "http://www.ktperformance.com/"
BigRed350x
K&T is the ONLY place to go if you want a monster TRex. They are the primary seller / port work for the TRex. If you want a TRex done right, go through K&T, no question about it.
dajogejr
K&T, . They build all the all different engines Cheetah, T-Rex, Cub, etc... Not to be a smart ass Ruko...just clarfying this up for the original poster... K&T does not build...or MAKE these engines. They use these engine components...to build their bikes. I got my cub from Jeff @ FAST, and am very happy with it. (That's right, Red. Got it back last night, first "real" ride today. OMG...it's an animal!!! )

So since they build engines using all those different cyl's they have a pretty good idea what works for what application, and you can trust they are telling the truth and not just trying to sell you what they have... because they have them all. lonestar
Ask that same question over at (www plantsand .com) if your serious about asphalt drag racing. I believe Twister just came out with new billet cylinders.
rocketboy
the trex require much higher port timing to hit the big numbers and kT does them more often than most, but the port ing and such takes forever and is expensive in comparison ,youd be much better off buying a cub and getting someone reputable to port it IMO . dajogejr
I guess the real questions are: How much HP do you want? $$ = HP. How much time you got to wait? Do you plan on racing organized events, and if so...do they have class size limits, restrictions, etc. That can play a role, too...
locogato11283
i would go with cubs or cheetah motor. has anyone ever felt the weight of the pistons the t rex cylinders run?? those bitches are heavy as hell...i think the t rex prolly take more to get them to run well as opposed to cubs are cheetahs which take very little to get them screamin... You are right on there Loco, my pistons are pretty heavy and the cylinders are like a boat anchor too. Another bad thing about them is you can only buy the pistons from Racers Edge because they have a patten on the pistons. Jeff at FAST is a Racers Edge dealer so he gets a little discount but they still costs me 225! The intakes are from a 93-99 yz 250 and the head is completely different too, so you have to buy the oring kit from them too. Your best bet is to go with the cub, mainly cause it is alot cheaper. Porting on the Trex through K&T I believe when i called a while back was gonna be 650. If you were to put the same amount of money in a bike with cubs that you did in a bike with trex, the cubs will win everytime. Like said before 500+cc's thats huge my buddys 10 mill 535 trex by k&t made 104 horse and a guy I know has a 421 cub on alky drag ported by GT makes 105, and he has spent half the money. But it is your decision Trex have tons of low end though.
Guest WICKED ATV
thanks for all the input guys you really helped. I think im going to start saving for a 4 mill cheetah cub. ohh and the guy at the local track is running a 520 t-rex built by K&T and its running in the mid 6s at 109miles an hour. It is a freak.
