Bansheekidd97
i was riding down at the pit today when a guy on a 89 250r showed up. we screwd around for a while i couldt get him to race me. well we ended up stopping and talking, i asked him how it went he said try it. ok . i just met this guy and he lets me take his bike oh well. i was not to empressed this thing was no peice of shit either it had a pro circut pipe and some other mods he said it was board 30 thousths bigger card and some other stuff nothing major it was a super clean bike. i took it around the pit i was getting on it pretty good to, it didnt seem like it had any power band at all, it was very faint. dont get me wrong it went good and i would take it over a 4poke any day but it was no banshee. bottom line that wouldt have even been a race.... differentstrokes
As far as a do-all bike I think they're great, but in stock form they're pretty mild. The aftermarket made the 250R what it is. I don't think a fairly stock bike is going to creep up on a modded banshee unless the guy can't ride, but handling is a different story. I don't really see many anymore, most Honda guys have swapped them out for 450R's.
PhilMoore
A couple years ago, a kid had a 250R over at my neighbors track. I had my 400EX and we did several drag races I smoked him every time. We traded quads and the 400EX won again. Everyone was saying "whoa you gotta check the jetting!" There is something wrong! I told him to pop the fender off and we took a look at the airbox. The air filter had never been cleaned! He said he got the quad several months before, and didn't know you had to clean the air filter. It had grass, mud, dirt, seeds, and some kind of hair all over it! 250R's are fast. It's too bad the first one you rode wasn't feeling good that day. You shouldn't generalize like that. pipebomb
Damn straight. Never assume that cause you rode one R that was running weak that all of them run that way. I've rode a couple that would make you shit yourself when you dumped the clutch. these things were rockets in a straight line and you would run out of space before you ran out of gears. Mine was in sad shape when I bought it, but it's a strong bike now and will be even stronger and faster once I get it finally dialed in. trail rider
My 250r that I got a little while ago is mostly stock, just has vforce reeds and fmf silencer, and a supposedly rebuilt transmision and fresh top and bottom end. Its a pretty clean bike, has a extended swingarm too. it runs pretty good I think, alot more low end torque than the banshee, awesome riding in the woods and trails. but when we drag race its almost sad how slow the banshee makes the R look  . even 400ex's beat my R in a drag. but I think it is still a blast to ride even if it doesnt have the arm ripping pull of the banshee. but I hope to change that someday, maybe get this thing ported and get a good exhaust, and they say that a new cr ignition really wakes it up to. maybe then I will be able to hang a little closer with the banshee
Animalman294
I have a 250R and I thought it ran pretty good, I mean it is no where near what my Banshee is but it was pretty quick for stock trim.................
rocketboy
well your comparing apples to oranges .250r quads in stock form are slow as snails ,but a ported 250r with an esr pipe/bigger airstryker carb will beat up a piped only banshee,it takes alot of mods for one to hang with modfied banshees.if dragging is your thing the banshee is the only way to roll.yo u can make a 250cc smoke all the new 450 quads if yo u set it up right
helldriver
i never really cared much for the 250R,, my buddy had a ct330R and my 404 shee took it no problem Edited July 24, 2006 by helldriver
rebelbanshee2
:ninja: 250Rs are made for going around corners and over bumps really fast. Banshees are made for digging trenches in the ground and going faster than in a straight than anything else. if by "race" you mean straight untill you top out in 6th the Banshee is faster. But if bt race you mean MX or XC 250R is gonna lap you
BansheeCJ3
Hmmm... I owned a 250r for a little while. No!!! they are nothing like a Banshee but I was amazed with mine...The freakin thing screamed like crazy. It had crazy power all the way around. Not sure what was wrong with the one you rode but...............
DirtyFitz
There's always a faster bike out there, My buddy has a worked up 250R (port N polish, bored, airstryker carb, jetted and other goodies) and it is always 1 bike length behind me if not right next to me in a straight drag. Them R's have power ALL around and its nice.
