dajogejr
What is your jetting at? How do your plugs look? have you done a compression test lately...? If all those check out, normaly it's electrical...when it heats up, it gets very stubborn. You can check the coil and leads as well as the stator with an OHM meter...specs and how to test are in any clymers manual.
hittintrees srh
I sorta have the same problem- when its nice outside (round 70 to 80 deg.) shee'll start first kick EVERY time. but when its hot out, like it is now, i have to choke one of my carbs to get her goin. Ive got all the compression in the world, plugs are perfect(or damn close), and shee runs killer. Could i also have an electrical problem???? dajogejr
Normally...electrical problems surface when the bike has run a bit (the part itself heats up from use)... or, it won't work at all. I don't know squat about the Lectrons...is it possible they need a cleaning? Normally...the warmer it gets, the less you need the choke... I also know the Lec's aren't as finicky with temp changes are the Miks and Keihins though... YOu said compression is good, make sure your tank filter (fuel valves) are clean, clean lines and clean carbs... What oil/premix you running? What plugs? Is you ignition all stock? For giggles, what is your elevation and compression reading?
liquedfire
top end is brand new i did a chop test and the plugs are mint im runnin 30:1 yamaha lube 2R high octane i live in ottawa but i dono how high i am LOL everything is stock but what my sig says if u need 2 know anything eles let me know Edited July 22, 2006 by liquedfire
dajogejr
What is the actual compression? Check for dirt in the carbs and/or fuel tank...
creamsickle
coild tend to heat up and the wire expands and can lose its ability to have a strong spark. so if you have a friend who also has a banshee see if you can steal their ignition coil and then try it to see if there is a problem after it gets hot. liquedfire
kool i will try to steal his coil and the comp is 175psi both pistons hot and when its cold 180psi
dajogejr
Odd...normally, the PSI raises when it's hot and it's a bit lower when cold. Did you hold the throttle WOT when you checked compression? What octane gas are you running? I have a spare coil. If you want to pay for shipping...on your honor, I'll ship it to you to test. Ship it back when you're done...or we can work out a price for it should you decide to keep it. But...testing with a buddies will obviously be easier.. Normaly, the wires are ok, but the end caps go bad. NGK end caps are pretty cheap...pick some of those up before you go buy another coil.
