Banshee dies when accelarated hard

Recommended Posts

Hey guys I need help. I am new to this. I just recently had my whole engine taken apart to get it polished. At the same time I had the cylinders ported. I picked up the bike today tried to take it for a ride but could'nt.. I can ride the bike in first gear as long as I dont accelerate to much but as soon as I gas it to take off hard the bike completely dies. I tried taking off like that 3 times and same result. I got tired of pushing the bike back home. I only tried that in first gear, i assumed in all gears it would do the same when gassed hard. Banshee is an 04 with toomey t6, vforce reeds 3, port job, new cdi box. Was told by the mechanic that they also mill the head. help please

I would call your engine builder and ask him about jetting set-up, he should be able to help you if he's done his home work.

Are you running stock carbs?

Yeah Im still running the stock carbs and the tors have been disconnected for a long time. So you guys think its my jetting and not something electrical.

if it was an electrical problem it wouldnt ride at all it would just turn off its your jetting or your carbs/.air filter are dirty

I could not take the bike to the shop today but i did speak to the mechanic and mentioned what the bike was doing and asked if he though it was the jetting. He said he did not think it was the jetting. He said that it was probably electrical because if it was the jetting (to lean or to rich mixture) that the bike would sputter or bog instead of just completely dying out. What do you guys think?

you can try this ,i had a problem running my banshee above half throttle to full throttle it would just die like it was running out of gas i took the stock gas cap off and took the little phillips screws out to remove the breather once the that was gone out of the gas cap i never had another problem

Take it back and have him fix it. I'd be pissed if I were you! Spend the money to get your bike built and get it back in a non running state! That's some BS!!! I'd be chewing some ass for sure!!! That's my 5 cents! As for your problem, let the shop deal with it and ask for a couple free services or something for them fu##ing up!

ok so the cutting out, does it happen when ou slam the throttle? and by slam I mean go from almost idle to like full throttle. what if you try to just slowly raise the rpms until its pegged. cause if it works when you slowly rev it thenn you have a clogged jet or a faulty reed. and get back on it to see if it does it in other gears. could also be the vapor lock like the guys were saying above. but you need to narrow down the span of rpms that it happens. low throttle only or high end only? does it matter if I slam the throttle or slowly accelerate? if you punch it at the top end(assuming you can get it there) does it bog out again?
