who ports 2 stroke pwc's?

Recommended Posts

i am buying a 97 yamaha waveventure 760 with trailer for $100. the reason it is so cheap is because 1 cylinder has low compression. i plan on rebuilding the engine myself however i would like to send the cylinders out to get ported and bore up to the next size but truthfully i dont know of anyone who ports pwc's.

i know that amlost any machine shop can bore, but who ports these things? anyone?

also does anymore make aftermarket pipes for pwc's? id love to put a pair of pipes on this thing.

two stroke is a two stroke...I'd bet just about any reputable builder could do that for you.

While thats true, every 2 stroke is different, and the more people work on a motor, they more they learn what works well, and what doesn't. I'd try and find someone that does jetski motors, if only for the fact they'll probably be faster at it (which would probably mean cheaper too).

Bah...

Just tell them you want a dune port job, it'll be fine... :headbang:

Seriously... You want more low end out of a jetski, to get you going. Since there's no gearing per say, like a quad with a tranny.

I would honestly just tell them you want a basic port to increase power everywhere. I'd bet you'd be fine.

Jetski/Boat shops are just as busy right now, if not busier...and I'd bet they're pricier than ATV shops in general...(anything at any marina is more money....even a foam cooler is more money...lol )

Anything that deals with a boat/jetski, is extremely expensive, but as stated I would find someone that specializes in jetski motors and find out who they recommend. There are enough people out there that compete with those things so there are people (like Jeff and Jim) who build these things up for higher horsies...................

I'm running late, so this has to be fast.

You got one heck of a great deal. The trailer is worth more than that. I don't know of anybody who ports in FL. We sent our stuff out, but I can't tell you who we sent it to off the top of my head. I can find out, but we're Indiana. You could buy the templates, if your up to doing it yourself.

I think Coffman makes a dry pipe for it. Your motor should be putting out 90hp stock so it's not bad stock. You can get better pistons too and have the head worked or get an after market one. Also you can get a better impellor. All that will help. If it was my ski I'd lean more towards building it for top end. If you want more information on the other mods let me know and I'll ask the guys at the shop. I'm not real familiar with the Waveventure. I know they are good ski though and Yamaha handle mods and get better results than any other brand. There isn't a whole lot out there in performace stuff for the Waveventure compared to others, but that also depends on how bad ass you want to make it.

Hope this helps.

thanks guys. i ended up selling the waveventure for a grand. not a bad deal!

i think the wave venture was too tame for me anyways. im going to look for a pair of waveblaster's. those seem to be more of a sport type pwc. ill look into getting the waveblasters posted and throw a pipe on them. should be more fun with less weight.

i am a mechanic for a rental shop here in az where we run about 20 skis. they are all 94-98 waveraiders and waveventures. first of all congrats on that deal cuz you can do that top end in about 3 hours and 300 bucks with wiseco. as far as the porting there are definitely more people than you think that can do it. i just built a full race ported 1100 and its puttin out right around 210 horsepower now. other than the porting there are a lot of things out there to wake that ski up. there are three catalogs you need to get. wsm, lynn vick, and western power sports. the best exhaust out there is a company called factory and they have huge hp gains on the 760. somthing like 40 hp.really expensive though. it was like 2200 cost for my 1100. there is also a really good company called coffman that makes very good exhaust. they are a lot cheaper and you still get between 30 - 35 hp. and last for exhaust. riva makes a decent aftermarket for it as well. what i would suggest is an R&D modified cylinder head. that will really wake it up comin out of the hole.but youll have to run race gas. and last but most importantly. get rid of that damn oil injection and go premix. i cant even tell you how many engines we have go down because of faulty oil pumps. get rid of it cuz chances are thats why you have a week cylinder now.
