BigRed350x
I don't remember the stock compression ratio...but more comp in any motor is a good thing... Those guys will advance the timing and up the squeez on their lawnmowers.... Blackcounty will tell you...stock gas tank works just fine! I dropped my shee off at cubshee's house Saturday. When he told me what he'd build me a 10mil on alky for, I about cried. I wish he wouldn't have told me... Needless to say, my 4 mil cub might possibly be up for sale beginning of next year for a 10mil alky motor... I'm also going bigger this winter. Stuck between a 7 or a 10mil. Dunno. Probably 7. Travis's Banshee
I ran 17cc domes in my coolhead and seemed to work fine. Jetting seemed more sensitive to me. The shee burned about 1/4 to 1/3 more fuel on alcohol. As far as purging, I made a small aluminum tank that sat on the frame rails and held one quart. I'd fill it and run it dry. That seemed to purge everything fine. You'll be amazed how fast you burn up a quart of fuel.
RILS
I'm also going bigger this winter. Stuck between a 7 or a 10mil. Dunno. Probably 7. Why wait go big now and sell me one of those cubs.
dajogejr
Most of the guys serious about Alky run a dial a jet system. There's is simply nothing better than a click or two to get dialed in for a day or riding, rather than sitting back at the truck taking off bowls/bowl plugs. For 100 bucks, I'm seriously thinking of getting a dial a jet for my PWKs. Think about it...if you changed your main jets on each carb 3 times, that damn thing would pay for itself right there, IMO...

I have a pretty good collection of spare parts chilling the shed that I don't use but keep around for those "just in case" situations. I don't think I would sell the ones I have now. I already had a mess of jets, so I just did it the hard way.

How exactly does the dial a jet work? I have been thinking along those lines for a LONG time. If they will work with alch too, then F'it I am going to order up some. Do you still need to mess with pilots and needles with the dial-a-jet?
dajogejr
I'll do a quick write up on it. You drill two holes. One in the float bowl, one in the carb bell. A fitting goes in each. A fuel line runs from the bowl to the bell. You have a clicky knob to adjust the additional fuel spray it provides, drawing fuel from the bowl. For Alky...it works even better... But, it'd be wise to have a pingel valve and a fuel pump of some sort... I THINK, and I'm not 100% positive, it has adjustment to compensate for up to 10 main jet sizes. This does not effect the pilot or idle circuit, just the mains.
