I had a set of fattys on my bike, they worked good for a stock bike that was used for trails ,they had a pretty good hit in the mid range. I've been told there real close to a t5 pipe with less quality. Does'nt matter to me since I went to a 4mil with cpi's. I'm just saying that there not as bad as everyone believes, yes the quality is marginal but they are better then stock. There are alot better pipes out there, to each there own. Just my .02

I agree 90% with gipperz here. I too had fmfs, but I had their old school top-end pipe. They were awesome I beat fatties, 450s, raptors, t5s, dmc, cpi, shear, ssts, everything. For a stock banshee with this pipe it ran good damn good!!!! Never lost a race!!! The only reason I got rid of them and got the Cpi s is because the right pipe cracked in 3 places and created two large holes. I tried looking for another set but never found them, so I moved on. Not bad for a 15 year old pipe that cost be $80!

 

In short fatties are OK t5s and others may be better, but terrible fmf is not.

i beg to differ, SURE fmf's are not the best overall pipe to run .... However i have rode some KILLER stock stroke bikes with porting and head work with fmfs . and i swear to this day its one of the faster bikes ive rode ( excluding strokers and big motors ) . SURE the bike could perform better with " better " pipes but i still think for the money fmf's are not a bad choice.

I have FMFs and T5s. The T5s fit better and look better. The T5 physical design is better I think.

yeah i made it sound like they are the worst thing to buy for a banshee but i agree with some of you....they are cheaper....my bike has pro curcuits, my buddies has t5s....i like the way the t5's sound over mine and looks but my bike out performs rather easily with almost the same stuff done to it....but back to fmf before i'd buy a fmf pipe i'd buy a polaris.

I had two different sets of FMF's, that I ran for 10 years, and I never had a problem with them. The finish isn't as nice as some of the other brands, but they sure did perform, and very well. I beat a lot of other bikes, with the "prettier" pipes. If your looking for a performance gain, and not so much bling, dollar for dollar, you can't beat the FMF's. Just my .02, and chrome doesn't win races.

So.....what your saying is that your passing judgement on pipes you've never owned before Nor used? :baseball_getlost: What experience do you have with fmfs?

I have FMF SST pipes with Turbine Core 2 Silencers. I am happy with them. One of my riding places is in The Halsey National Forest here in Nebraska. You have to have a certified spark arestor to run there. FMF and Pro Circuit are about the only ones that make an actuall spark arested silencer. I didnt want to mess around with those goofy clamp on kits.

^^^true about the spark arrestor..

 

Toomey silencers are half the size, mount up with half the hatrdware. My SSTs are pressed right up against my coolant hose. I've always been afraid of the heat cracking or melting the hose.
