nomad Posted July 13, 2006 Report Share Posted July 13, 2006 (edited) I've been bitten! I haven't even received my '06 Banshee yet, and I just purchased Elka Sport/Racing shocks. It's already rolling off the floor with intake/exhaust mods, but I just couldn't help myself. I spoke with Eric and he helped me with my decision. I'm using them with the stock length A-arms because I'm not interested in widening the stance due to the types of riding I'll do 98% of the time. They ran $1,110 with shipping and will be at my new house before I get there (2 weeks). Eric enlightened my on a new rear shock set-up which I figured I'd share for those of you interested. He's been testing it on/for Sheera (He-mans sister) and said it'll be available in approximately 1 month to the public. So if any1 is interested, check with Elka then. I guess I'll be one of the first customers to purchase it, but with limited seat-time on her I may not be able to give the best review of the product. Mike Yes, he said it was a new rear link and he mentioned long travel. I wish I could've understood all of his information. He spoke to me in his language as opposed to mine....LAMEN! I thought I'd pass it on and those of you who are mechanically inclined could seek more information from Elka. At this point in my re-discovered (childhood/teenage years) pasttime (hard to find a good place to shoot all of my toys in NJ), I have more money than brains!!! :ermm: I reccomend something other than elka.. like tcs or axis... the fox floats are badass too... tell me how much you want to spend and I'll give you some options... it's gonna run you at least 2g's to put a good setup under your bike... I'm not interested in cancelling the Elka front setup order (sports&racing series). I will be riding tight trails/swamps 80%, woods 18% and track 2% of the time. I won't be doing any big jumping. I don't know enough about suspension to have a ton of adjustments available, nor do I want to play around all day trying to "dial it in". Thanks!!! PEP, Axis and Ohlins (In that order) are the best shocks money can buy... wayne at pep is a fucking genious when it comes to valving.. thus the reasoning for a 6month waiting list for them... Elka has been slipping hardcore the last couple years on there valving but precision concepts or mark baldwin at baldwin motorsports can solve that... If all your doing is trails and swamps you need to do alot of adjusting... just alot of oiling and cleaning... I haven't had to deal with axis since they moved to PA and became more of a penske enterprise... rumor has it there customer service isn't the same as it use to be... http://www.precisionconceptsracing.com/Pre...on_content.html ... I spoke with Eric (per his reputation on this site) regarding the fronts and he seemed excited about the rear. I hope because Eric took my order and helped me with my decision, he'll have a hand in the setup/fabrication. I'm sure which ever rear I get will be better than stock. The rear isn't available yet to the public. I was assuming I would go with the Elka rear, also from the manufacturer (Eric?), for geometry reasons. But I assume if people run aftermarkets up front and a stocker in the rear that any aftermarket rear with the proper setup would do. I appreciate the feedback!
