Ruko
I am having trouble jetting my girlfriends Banshee and I had a thought maybe it has an air leak. It has a single carb but one side seems to be a little more on the lean side than the other, so I though maybe a base gasket is leaking... Is there some way to check for an air leak without taking it apart?? I tried spraying ether around but it didn't do anything.. I also tried spraying it in the airbox and it still didn't do anything...just to see if the rpm would change. Any other tricks to finding an air leak?? creamsickle
you need to do a leak down test. get yourself a leak down tester and that should tell you the problem. basically you plug all the holes then pump the cylinder up to 6psi and watch the guage to see if it droppes. 1psi loss per minute is aceptable. in order to have a noticable leak it will basically drop like a rock. thats your only way to look for the leak other then what you have already done. Any other tricks to finding an air leak?? you can use a propane tourch (UNLIT lol) and see if RPM climbs, other than that, check the reeds and pick up a few gaskets, there cheap and easy to change. you need to do a leak down test. get yourself a leak down tester and that should tell you the problem. basically you plug all the holes then pump the cylinder up to 6psi and watch the guage to see if it droppes. 1psi loss per minute is aceptable. in order to have a noticable leak it will basically drop like a rock. thats your only way to look for the leak other then what you have already done. Thats for compression loss, Ruko is looking for external air leaks. Also check you exhaust o-rings, or replace them.
Ruko
Also check you exhaust o-rings, or replace them. k thx I'll try the propane torch but I'm not sure how the exhaust o-rings would affect the jetting??
dajogejr
machwon on this board sells a leak down test kit on ebay, he'll probably ship you one if you PM him. I don't remember the price, but it was reasonable. Shoot him a PM, he's a straight shooter.
